I see quite a few members here use the words DAMN (such as "not a damn thing") and HELL (such as, "what the hell....").

Should we really be using these words when we talk. Such words were even once forbidden to be used on TV.
Seems a bit puritanical but I would agree with keeping vulgarity in check to a degree. As I was always taught, frequent use of vulgar words shows a lack of intelligence or ignorance.

But also some fringe "swear" words used in the right context in can help express passion in driving home a point or sometimes in genuine humor the words are meaningless.

The word Hell BTW comes from the pagan Norse mythology I believe.

I wish I could clean up my language in real life.

Ditto here.

Yes- this is a big struggle of mine. Sometimes I'm so concentrated on battling 'bigger issues' in my spiritual life, that I forget how bad this can make me look to others who know I'm Catholic.
