  • I will make it very clear for women and say what they don't want to hear -- guys do not enjoy the idea of their wife having been handled by numerous men.

It is bad if you had relations outside marriage; much worse if you were promiscuous and had one-night stands; much worse than that if you were in porn or a prostitute, etc.

Strangely, it doesn't seem to bother women as much, to marry a man who has not been chaste.  I'm not here to explain, just relate how it is.  Maybe it has to do with male aggressiveness and female passivity.  But I'm sure it many cases it is a factor.  A young virginal Catholic girl is less likely to want to marry someone with a bad past, than she would be to want to marry a virginal male.

I can tell that in my case, since I had long-term girlfriends, except one, I don't have that lothario thing about me that others might have.  I'm sure it is perceived that I was a relatively moral pagan.  But it still counts against me.  Since I don't want to be married, I haven't experienced any awkwardness, but I would certainly feel odd courting a virgin.  Not that it would be wrong to marry one if one fell in love with me.  But it also wouldn't be wrong of them to reject me.
Readers: Please IGNORE all my postings here. I was a recent convert and fell into errors, even heresy for which hopefully my ignorance excuses. These include rejecting the "rhythm method," rejecting the idea of "implicit faith," and being brieflfy quasi-Jansenist. I also posted occasions of sins and links to occasions of sin, not understanding the concept much at the time, so do not follow my links.

  • My heart does not exactly flutter with the romance of it, when nadie says he was like Hugh Hefner, and now he has a 22-year old wife who he takes pains to mention looks like a Dallas cheerleader ( no mention of her goodness or character, mind you ).

Clearly he is wrong-headed in this thread and still has some worldly thinking.  There is no reason why men should have to marry women who have sowed their wild oats -- let alone to expect this!  Girls simply need to be told by their parents what they were always told before, to keep themselves pure for marriage, otherwise no nice young man will want them.  Nadie, you are really proving Tele right about his idea of feminism and worldliness infecting Catholics.

That being said, I don't say this marriage is wrong.  There are few Catholic men to go around these days, if Nadie is protecting this girl and doing right by her, and she agreed to marry him, what can you say?  Personally I don't find his story to be very inspiring, mostly because of the way he told it, but that is just me.  All God obliges him to do is work towards his wife's sanctification; if he wants a young wife, he can have it as long as he follows that obligation.

I was wrong in thinking that I could give advice to perfect strangers of whom I know NOTHING about. Reading a few lines from a thread does not tell anything about a person.

Further proof to me is in your response, in which you totally misanalized my situation, and then proceed to pontificate "Clearly he is wrong-headed in this thread and still has some worldly thinking".

I quickly learned from my mistake, I'd advise you to learn from yours. Don't go around giving advice to perfect strangers of whom you know NOTHING about. Reading a few lines from a thread does not tell anything about a person.

Seeing a person face to face will teach you more about them than all he could tell you about himself on the internet.

Threads like this one are better suited for busy body women.

Please disregard any advice I gave earlier on this thread, and just keep this posting (for I can't delete the earlier one). Mary Magdalen was once a whore, but we only remember her as THE greatest example of a repentant sinner, a Saint. Please remember me only by this posting, my final position on the subject of discussing peoples personal lives on the internet.
