Title: Adding Saint Joseph Prayer to Rosary
Post by: OHCA on October 26, 2010, 12:48:32 AM
It is my understanding from another traditional Catholic forum that it is particularly good to add the St. Joseph Prayer to the concluding prayers of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary during October.  Considering the words, that seems a most apt prayer for the current crisis in the Church.  I urge everyone to please fervently pray the Rosary and add the St. Joseph Prayer to the conclusion at least for the rest of October.

I am so thankful for finding this forum and for my traditional (though N.O. parish).  I'm sure y'all are wondering where the rock is that I've been living under, but for the past 18 yrs or so I have thought that I was one of maybe 3,000 people the world over drawn to tradition.  I have only met 1 or 2 in the flesh whom I've thought were as traditional or perhaps more traditionally Catholic than myself.  Now I'm convinced there are enough of us to effect the correction of errors.

Pray that good fruit is borne out of the traditional overtures of the Pope.  If you believe as I do, pray that he is strengthened and that tradition is rapidly recovered through his good will.  If you believe as some of my friends here, pray that his moves toward tradition fire strong fervent interest and bring about knowledge of tradition where else there would not be such knowledge (many in my age group with increasing numbers down from there), and that it spins out of control for the good of all true Catholics and for the Church!

Sorry for the rant, but I'm so excited what this forum has done for me in terms of strengthening me to live a life increasingly closer to traditional Catholicism, the Faith of my family for centuries, my birthright in some sense, out of which I was nearly fully cheated!  And oh what a difference traditional Catholicism--true Catholiism--is making in my life!  It is as exciting as the fundamentalist protestants around here make their conversions sound.  And oh how good to know it is Real--that it is based on Truth--based on Tradition established by our very Lord!

Sorry if I got too pentecostal on you for a moment.  But please do pray the Rosary with the St. Joseph Prayer so aptly worded for his intercession in this time of crisis.  Do this in the hope of the Church returning to tradition as the norm such that others who would be won over and/or retained in the true Faith by the simultaneous beauty and rigor of tradition may indeed have it for the salvation of their souls.

I know from my life TRUE Catholicism is necessary and further know that the pews of N.O. churches are filled with many who hold TRUE Catholicism in their hearts but who are in the only Catholic Church of which they are aware!  Regardless of how dastardly one thinks N.O. churches are, it seems most uncharitable to let this persist without kicking up all manner of dust!  Regardless of how "protestant" you think the N.O. is, there are MANY souls there who are definitely not protestant, but, with good reason, know not but "Lord, to whom shall we go?"

I can't say enough about St. Joseph, he has been such a help to me in my life, especially when it comes to my adult "children".  Once I read about this family and their family rosary, they kept adding little prayers and called them "tag alongs", I thought that was pretty understanding.

That is what is really nice about the family rosary, it gets a person thinking about what else to tag along.  St. Joseph is the greatest!

This prayer was recommended by Pope Leo XIII:

Prayer to St. Joseph after the Rosary
To thee, O Blessed Joseph, we have recourse in our affliction; and having implored the help of thy thrice-holy Spouse, we now with hearts filled with confidence, earnestly beg thee also to take us under thy protection. By that charity wherewith thou wast united to the Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God, and by that fatherly love with which thou didst cherish the Child Jesus, we beseech thee and we humbly pray, thou thou wouldst look down with gracious eye upon that inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased by His Blood, and wilt assist in our need by thy power and strength. Defend, O most watchful Guardian of the Holy Family, the chosen offspring of Jesus Christ. Keep from us, O most loving Father, all blight of error and corruption. Aid us from on high, most valiant Defender, in this conflict with the powers of darkness. And even as of old, thou didst rescue the Child Jesus from the peril of His life, so now defend God's Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity. Shield us ever under thy patronage, that following thine example and strengthened by thy help, we may live a holy life, die a happy death, and attain to everlasting bliss in Heaven. Amen.

Well, ever since I became traditionalist, I always pray this after every Rosary. I believe it's only proper to give due praise to Our Lord's foster father.
