  • How should a Catholic respond to questions about abortion in case of rape or incest?

  • It's very simple.  How can someone justify the murder of a child just because it is the product of rape or incest?

If abortion is murder you obviously cannot.

  • Abortion brutally punishes the victim of rape or incest even more, for something that was not her fault in the first place.

It is worth pointing out that these cases are thankfully rare.  There are thousands of couples praying to adopt babies, people who will pay for the best care.

These victims need and deserve so much support.  I wish I could be more helpful.

    That murder is...MURDER :)

God will always provide a realistic, agreeable alternative to those of good will :)

  • 1)  Abortion is the murder of an innocent human being.  This can never be justified.

    2)  It is unjust to punish a child for the crimes of his/her father.  In this case, the rapist is a criminal and the unborn child would pay for his father's crime with his or her life.  Clearly not justice.

    3)  The victim of the rape or incest will be victimized yet another time by having her child ripped from her womb.

4)Love conquers hatred, every time.  There is no greater love than the love a mother has for her child, if she allows it, regardless of how that child was conceived or the circuмstances of the mother's life.

    5)  There are no unwanted children.  There are plenty of parents ready to lovingly adopt a child, especially a newborn, in spite of the nature of conception.

  • I remember some time ago, someone called into the Jason Lewis show after he had said that he was in favor of abortion in the cases of rape and incest, and asked him "When you see a person passing by, can you tell if that person is a product of rape or incest?". There was of course no answer, just a commercial break.
