While comparing the NAB with Protestant Bibles from that booklet, I can hardly tell the difference (that includes the names of the books). That is different with the Douay-Rheims: there is a very Catholic feel to it.

Is the New American Bible just another way to make the Church more Protestant, like the Novus Ordo Missae (New Ordinary of the Mass), the Nouvelle Théologie (New Theology), and New Evangelization? I'm seeing a trend here.

Yes, it is. Stay away from it.
For those who I have unjustly offended, please forgive me. Please disregard my posts where I lacked charity and you will see that I am actually a very nice person. Disregard my opinions on "NFP", "Baptism of Desire/Blood" and the changes made to the sacra

Like Protestant Bibles, although today the Church probably wouldn't accept that attitude toward our "seperated bretheren."

I was thinking about it after, and for certain books I say skip the proverbial back burner and thrust them on the literal one!  :heretic:

  • I am going to remind people of this again.

One of the agenda of the Freemasons was to make the new translations of the bible worse or the same as the protestants.

    13. In the Gospel reading omit the word "Holy. " For example: instead of "Gospel according to St. John" only say "Gospel According to John. " You make (them) think they ought not to worship more. Write continuously new translations of the Bible until they are worse than those used by Protestants. Omit the adjective "Holy" in the expression "Holy Spirit". This will pave the road. Highlight the nature of "feminine" of God as a mother full of tenderness. Eliminate the use of the term "Father. "

    Please keep this in mind.

You can read the rest of the agenda of the Freemasons (I'm sure it's not entire, but you get the idea) here:

    Why do you keep trolling?
Please ignore ALL of my posts. I was naive during my time posting on this forum and didn’t know any better. I retract and deeply regret any and all uncharitable or erroneous statements I ever made here.

It's a PDF do you have adobe? Here is the file again.

Hey RonCal- while you think the Confraternity Bible and 'others' (including the Knox translation) are good, you should read the link by LordPhan.

Douay-Rheims is the way to go!

    Get yourself this HAYDOCK bible:

These are the publishers of it, and the best traditional Catholic bookstore that there is:

    http://www.catholictreasures.com/cartdescrip/11341.html

That bible is composed of 20% scripture, and 80% footnotes from the Fathers, Doctors, Saints, Popes, and othe Catholic authorites. The bible is a reprint of the original Haydock of the mid 1800's, so, you won't find any modernist garbage in it.
