  • This post came from the lifeaftertheoilcrash forums and it is a forum dedicated to helping people survive the coming financial tsunami. Hear is the Post:

I have a good friend who works for one of the top 4 broadcast, television networks (NYC), and another who has a top job at a major firm on Wall Street, and another who works for the Feds in NYC as well.  Anyway, all of these folks are very knowledable, and are close to those high up in their respective organizations.  Between them, and others in the Know, there has been much concern lately for the true possibility of social unrest due to the recent financial issues.  There is a school of thought believed by many that the government knows that the s*it is going to hit the fan, and soon, and that all of this discussion regarding "bail-outs", "stimulus packages", "bank buyouts", etc. are either smoke and mirrors ploys, to make the public feel that something is being done, or that they (the government) really doesn't know what they are doing.  The thought in both cases is that the sh*t is going to hit the fan regardless, and the government knows this.  The possible social unrest due to the what may be coming down the pike, has brought concern and fear to the folks in at least two of the industries that I mentioned above.

People who know me here, know that I'm not along the alarmist camp, when it comes to this kind of stuff.  In fact when I was talking to my friend just a while ago, I was getting a bit of a chill in my spine.  This person is very well spoken, and in the past has not been on board with all of the gloom and doom.  So during/ after this discussion today, it was very apparent (to me at least), that something serious may be coming.

Again, I'm not just throwing this out to scare people.  The idea is to at least let folks here know that it's not just people on this forum that are fearing, or gearing up for the worst.   At least as far as the current financial situation goes, the possible negative implications have at least reached the folks who the sheeple listen to, if not some of the sheeple themselves.

  • Kushtaka, I'm in the same boat.

I've heard some shit in the last couple of weeks that has absolutely had me doing the Linda Blair.

I'm talking the things I've heard people saying/suggesting that are absolutely unbelievable, even as an ultra-mega-we're-all-fucked Doomer. Perhaps because I've known about all this stuff in the pipeline, I've already been able to cope with the reality of the situation, but some of the things I'm hearing lead me to believe that the O.P. may be spot-on.

I'm now worried about Joe Average turning into a MZB.

Seriously folks, the stuff I'm hearing lately out of the mouths of non-doomers is stunning. Absolutely stunning.

If this financial tomfoolery and chicanery goes on for much longer, I think I might be worried about people going batshit.
