A Question for all Cathinfo members?

  • What was the name of the materially prosperious nation in the ancient world that practiced abortion on such a wide scale that historians named it the abortion capital of the ancient world. Modern sociologists and historians like to say that abortion is a result of societal poverty. The above country proves that theory dead wrong. Abortion is the result of affluent decadence. If you can name that country, then tell us all what happened to it! It is a divine parable for what is coming to the good ole USA!

    Any takers?

  • Rome.

It fell to barbarian hordes, as the more technologically advanced Romans fell into excessive comfort, pleasure, and decadence.

They were gluttonous (they used a feather so they could have a second feast) and they exposed babies to die if the father didn't accept them. Their entertainment was watching people get killed by lions in the "games", etc. They pursued raw pleasure in all its base forms.

They used prophylactics, and ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖity was endemic as well.

    Sound familiar?

  • You are correct about Rome. I was actually thinking about a time before Rome became truly decadent. The answer I was looking for was mighty Carthage. It was a vastly wealthy City empire and its citizens had affluence greater than any other City at that time yet it was the abortion capital of the Western world. To make a long story short, Romes legions rolled in and burned the city to the ground leaving no stone unturned. They salted the earth so that nothing would grow. They killed most of the citizens and sold the rest into slavery. Carthage shows us that God will not be MOCKED! We are in for some bad times!

  • I would have said Carthage also.
There Is No Such Thing As 'Sede Vacantism'...
nor is there such thing as a 'Feeneyite' or 'Feeneyism'

  • Remember that one of the greatest Saints was heavily involved in Carthage decadence before converting. I speak of course of St. Augustine:

    Quote
Your anger had overshadowed me, and I knew it not. I was become deaf by the rattling of the chains of my mortality, the punishment for my soul's pride; and I wandered farther from You, and You suffered Matthew 17:17 me; and I was tossed to and fro, and wasted, and poured out, and boiled over in my fornications, and You held Your peace, O Thou my tardy joy! Thou then held Your peace, and I wandered still farther from You, into more and more barren seed-plots of sorrows, with proud dejection and restless lassitude.

From even the cess-pits God can "pluck out" great Saints. Let's take hope and pray ceaselessly. We can be surrounded by all this and still cling the Cross.
