  • I hope and pray that all who read this may have a peaceful, profitable Lent.  To that end, the following text may be of use:

"Fear God, and keep His commandments: for this is all man."

  • And you.  It is nice to see you back.
Stir up within Thy Church, we beseech Thee, O Lord, the Spirit with which blessed Josaphat, Thy Martyr and Bishop, was filled, when he laid down his life for his sheep: so that, through his intercession, we too may be moved and strengthen by the same Spir

  • I'm actually disappointed with the way my Ash Wednesday went. Abstaining from meat wasn't the problem--it was the fact that I did a lot more snacking between meals than I should have.

Be strict a couple days more and you will adjust and it will not be too hard in all likelihood.

  • Well not sure what all trad caths do for Lent. Being exposed to the coptic orthodox (hence my handle) it was real easy to remember.

No Meat, eggs, diary             for 55 days

I use to hear catholics give up video games , bubble gum I just kinda roll my eyes

Here is my list not sure if its easy, med, or hard

love coffee             so no coffee for me some tea for replacement

Addicted to chocolate         no chocolate no cheating on sundays either

    no sweets unless fruit

definetly no media unless its relgious

only books are religious more prayer stations of the cross be nicer
    work harder complain less

    So is that the norm????

    Your input is appreciated

    Your friendly canadian :farmer:

  • With the shock of Pope Benedict's resignation, it will be harder for many of us to concentrate on the liturgy and lessons of Lent. Traditionally it is a time of withdrawal from the world, as much as one's state in life permits, though I know I am not alone in having great difficulty this year in focusing on my usual Lenten devotions.

However, it is not "my devotions" that are most important; it is Jesus Christ, His Passion, and our sins that caused it which should have the primary place.

The distraction that recent events has caused will be an additional temptation to do battle with in the coming weeks.
Mother of God, pray for us sinners.
