    • Although this is largely crime committed by drug gangs, this paradox of savage violence towards priests in a most Catholic country, can perhaps be traced back to the Cristero War of the late 1920s, and the related persecution which lasted into the 1930s. It removed a taboo against attacking these men of God, I think.
