Today the city dwellers at the base of Mt. Vesuvius live in the most dangerous place in the world.

  • Looking at the exhibits from Pompeii and the plaster casts of people's bodies and animals that died in the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D., one cannot hardly imagine how much suffering they all went through  --  it is for us an accurate image of "hell on earth."

Curiously, like in the thread on Earthquake in Italy, the third apparition at Fatima in 1917 containing a vision of hell, is ominously similar. Furthermore, the behavior of the three Fatima children changed after that vision, and their erstwhile playful and "normal" childlike behavior disappeared entirely and they spent the rest of their lives doing PENANCE for sin -- not only for their own sin but for the sins of the entire world!!

Starting around minute 8, the above video spends some thirty minutes on the topic of hell:  the vision of hell in the third Fatima apparition, what the Church teaches about hell, what the Bible contains identifying names of people who are in hell (contrary to the claims of naysayers who contend that we can't know any of the names of people who are damned), how there is no way out of hell, that hell lasts forever, and that the pains of hell are far WORSE than the physical pain we can suffer here on earth due to natural fire, such as what the victims of Pompeii and Herculenaeum suffered.

At minute 27, this priest takes on the topic of uninformed (ignorant) people who say they don't mind going to hell because that's where they'll meet all their friends again: "I've heard it with my own ears."  He says that "There are no friends for anyone in hell."  Hell is not a place where anyone consoles anyone else, for there is only suffering there, unimaginable suffering, and there is no relief from suffering for eternity, without end.

At minute 31 the priest describes the effect this vision of hell had on [Bl.] Jacinta Marto.
In 1946 Pope Pius XII said, "The sin of the century is the loss of the sense of sin."  If God doesn't pass judgment on America of today, He's going to have to APOLOGIZE to Sodom and Gomorrah (and Pompeii and Herculenaeum).

Around minute 40 he talks about venial sin and how repetitively falling into venial sin conditions the will toward sin, such that when tempted into mortal sin, the will likely has insufficient resistance and the soul falls headlong into mortal sin.

For each man, God sets a number of mortal sins that He will forgive him, and no one knows how many that is.  When a man has reached his maximum number, then God will pardon no more for that man.  And the number is different for different people, such that for one, God might forgive 20, and for another only one. God waits patiently for the capacity for sin has been filled up, and when the measure of guilt is filled up, He waits no longer.

His pardon to penitents is not promised tomorrow to sinners.

God cannot pardon the determination to commit mortal sin.
