  • Many forum members probably already know that I live in Brazil and attend Mass with the resistance priests here. Being an American native English speaker and fluent in Spanish and Portuguese has given me the opportunity to access information in Catholic circles in various countries cultures etc.

I was surprised to see a recent calumny on Bishop Williamson that began here on Cath Info being translated and circulated by a pro-Fellay blog.

Brazil is a country with a large Catholic population and a well established resistance as well as the Ecclesia Dei sell outs that followed Bishop Rifan and small sede communities as well as the IBP and many SSPX communities etc etc.

The problem is that linguistically Brazil is a bit isolated from other countries. Many important pieces of information do not make it here, and if they do it is usually in Spanish which is difficult for most lay folk to understand clearly.

I have a good bit of free time on my hands for studying etc. and think if would be a good idea and be a great service to Holy Mother Church to try to set up some sort of forum for traditional Catholics.

Any ideas you all can give me will be appreciated.
We conclude logically that religion can give an efficacious and truly realistic answer to the great modern problems only if it is a religion that is profoundly lived, not simply a superficial and cheap religion made up of some vocal prayers and some ceremonies...

  • Voce sabe se eles tem a Resistencia no Portugal?

I would try looking there first. If not, search for all the Lusophone countries like Angola, Mozambique, Timor-Leste, etc. They're all majority Catholic and would maybe have a Resistance and traditional Catholic chapels/places.

Remember O most gracious Virgin Mary...

  • Portugal does not have much. Many of the faithful that attend resistance Masses have visited or lived there and there is very little there. Fr. Cardozo, who tends to various communities of faithful here, has been sent on missions there as well when he was still with the official Society.

Without a doubt, Brazil is the leader in the lusophone world with resistance Masses established in various states and also has the largest number of  [lapsed] Catholics in the world.

It's not a matter of getting it off the ground. There are enough people and communities here to do that. It's the designing etc rather. I haven't the first clue about desisning a platform for Catholics to trocar ideas.

It could have a lot of potential in gaining souls to the cause of Tradition. It would also be possible, perhaps, to have a resistance priest or one of his associates be a moderator, unannounced of course.

If I can't get something started, I'll probably just do like everyone else and make a blog and dedicate it to translating information from the English and Spanish speaking world.

  • Maybe Matthew will read this and think of something. Even a subforum for Portuguese here would be really good if I could pass the link via facebook et al.

Sounds like a good idea -- I just created a Portuguese subforum under the "SSPX Resistance".

Here is a nice short URL that takes a person directly to that subforum:

    Excellent!
Thanks. Just now saw it. I will try to get it going on both the Spanish and Portuguese.
