Just left a rural area that was within 30 miles of a very large city of almost 1 million. Now live in a small town (12k) over 100 miles from a large city, of almost 200k. Two other cities 100 miles away are about 50k, so mostly surrounded by rural.

I live in a village of about 100 people, but it's not a lot different than suburban living, given that I am only a 20-25 minute drive from downtown of two modest sized cities (300,000 and 30,000, respectively). I do enjoy living in a small village though because there are a lot fewer people and I don't feel like our neighbours are spying on us as in the city since the homes are located on 1 acre lots and spread out.
