Funny how times change. :scared2: When I was a kid of 6, 7 & 8 I used to ride my bike alone through the woods probably over a mile to Woolworths to get candy! No one ever thought anything of it.

Here in my neighborhood I see these 2 kids, probably around 8 & 10yo, crossing a busy 4 lane road to go to Circle K at 10 pm. I see these same 2 often enough to wonder why they are not in bed, but never thought that crossing a busy road was beyond their ability to do safely, even at night.

I don't think the dad should have been arrested, or even cited, although the kid should get a whoopin'.

This should be on Matthew's hit list of police state brutality.

The father of this boy made the unforgivable mistake of this time, not standing there to watch his children get into the van, like they do every week. He had presumed that his son, along with his "other children" (the story doesn't say if they're siblings or how many of them there are) had boarded the van, but in fact, his son had not, and had instead remained outside the van, to play in the neighborhood (perhaps alone?), and then had walked a half mile away to a local convenience store.

Why didn't the van driver notify the father before driving off? No cell phone? Was it a new driver who didn't know there was a boy missing? Didn't the other children (siblings? girls? boys? brothers? sisters?) mention it to the driver? Was the driver in too much of a hurry to worry about details?

So the police picked up the boy and brought him home, after claiming that the boy had been unable to say what his address is, and appeared to be 'lost'. (The father says that's a lie, and his son knows where he lives as he knows that whole neighborhood.) Upon returning the boy to his home, the police arrested the father for "child endangerment."

This is really scanty coverage -- looks like "political correctness" is making news reporting vague and full of missing details!

Baloney, I was walking to school in the rain the same distance when I was younger than this kid.

Porky the Pig decided to give the father an "attitude adjustment" by playing the role of proxy judge jury and executioner.

At one time I used to feel really bad when cops were killed, now I just think of it as one side against the other.

I recall a few years back when a man here in Reno pulled a lengthy decades long prison sentence for having child porn. A few weeks later an RPD officer whose wife turned him was caught with a thumbnail of child porn at the station. He received probation. What is wrong with this story ?

This story seems "fishy". A Dad being arrested over what we were told in the article sounds very extreme - especially when a pregnant woman can legally end the life of a baby in her womb.

I think this man may actually have a lengthy criminal record with numerous warnings and numerous visits from the police and child protective services (a repulsive organization).

Then again, the ex-wife may have a hand in this also.
