  • Tradition in action has some good material. I don't agree with -every single word- that's posted on their site, but they have some valuable resources. Some people get so bent out of shape about it, because they have some rather rigid views about manners, and other things, not to mention the woman who runs the website, and other contributors, having been previously affiliated with the TFP (and perhaps still has a loose affiliation with them now.)

The old adage "don't shoot the messenger" comes to mind.
    Matthew 5:37

But let your speech be yea, yea: no, no: and that which is over and above these, is of evil.

  • I read that Taylor Marshall article, I received several links to it today.  I'm confused...in what was are Spanish Masses of Thanksgiving connected with the American holiday of Thanksgiving?  They aren't.

At least, the only connection appears to be the word 'Thanksgiving'....so how is that a connection?

The most interesting fact to me in the article would be number 7:  Hillaire Belloc wrote a most appropriate short poem that makes an excellent toast for any Catholic family at their Thanksgiving dinner:

And don’t forget to raise your wine glass and recite
the wonderful limerick of Hilaire Belloc:

“Wherever the Catholic sun doth shine,
There’s always laughter and good red wine.
At least I’ve always found it so.
    Benedicamus Domino!

    ― Hilaire Belloc

A cult. Kind of like Opus Dei is a cult. But they're kind of a "neo conservative traditionalist" cult, rather than Opus Dei, which is a communist cult.

Here is an equally appropriate toast for that day, that came from the British isle, by G.K. Chesterton:

"In America they have a feast to celebrate the arrival of the Puritans. In England, we should have a similar feast - celebrating their departure." - G.K. Chesterton (source: Chesterton: A Biography, by Ian Kerr).

Curiously, Belloc came from England and emigrated to America, so his 'departure' would have been among those that Chesterton was wont to celebrate.

As the above shows, Chesterton was speaking of the Puritans; not about Catholics.
