These illustrations  mainly depict the Papal Court from the 18th and 19th centuries. They inspire nostalgia for the Pre- Conciliar  Era. Hopefully, one day  Modernism can be destroyed and purged in Rome by a truly Traditionalist Pope and the Papal Court can be restored to its former glory.

    Some of my favorite illustrations:

    His Holiness Pope Gregory XVI:

His Holiness is wearing the Papal fanon and palium.

    In Papal mantum and tiara:

Sedia Gestatoria (Pope St. Pius X?):

    Cardinal-Bishop:

    Cardinal-Priest:

    Cardinal-Deacon:

Notice the cassock with train. These were abolished by Pope Pius XII in the motu proprio DE  S.R.E.  PATRUM CARDINALIUM HABITU (1952). This mode of dress of cardinals consisting of rochet with their corresponding vestment according to rank was followed up to and including the dreaded and infamous Second Vatican Council, as this video demonstrates:

    Patriarch of Venice:

    Syrian Bishop:

    Armenian Bishop:

    Crucifer on Horseback:

It seems rochets and surplices were more shorter and higher cut back then:

I wonder what his role is in the Papal Court:

    Palatine Guard:

    Noble Guard:
