Hey, just wondering, why are the thread pages so short, only a few posts per page? It's kind of annoying having to click through dozens of pages. Usually forums have more posts per page.

There are 10 posts per page -- at least for members who are logged in.

If you're not logged in, it's only 3 posts per page. That's because guests are 15th class citizens. Right above cockroaches and head lice. Membership is free, so I feel no need to be nice to guests.

Guests get the "demo version" or "CathInfo Lite". For the full version of the program -- which is still FREE -- you only need to sign up for an account and log in.

It takes more processing power to produce a page with 10 posts, compared to a page with 3 posts. Basically I'm being super stingy with guests.

Why? Because I can't even give Guests the benefit of being human. Because:

When a malicious entity tries to bring down my site with tons of fake traffic -- each of those hundreds or thousands of computers hitting CathInfo with fake traffic is done by GUESTS.
When a search engine (bot) hits my site, it's a GUEST.
When any computer program hits my site, it's a GUEST.
When a banned member visits the site, he's a GUEST.

And yes, when a Traditional Catholic (human) discovers CathInfo for the first time, he is also a GUEST.

See why guests are a problem for me? They could be ANYTHING. Human or machine, good or bad. So I can't trust them, and I don't like them.

But if you're human, I WANT TO like you. I'm very nice and friendly to my fellow Traditional Catholics. So that is why...

I encourage people to sign up for a (completely anonymous) CathInfo account, and log in. Then they get all the benefits of members. The biggest membership perk is a certain benefit of the doubt. A Member might still be completely anonymous, but at least I know he's human, so I can (and will) trust him to a large degree!
    Want to say "thank you"?

  • Is it possible to set it to more than 10 per page for members?
