It is literally more effeminate to be clean-shaven. Women can't grow beards (freak shows aside), so being clean-shaven brings a man THAT MUCH CLOSER to looking like a woman.
Tell that to Saint Pius X.

Orientals (the Chinese, Japanese, etc.) and American Indians usually don’t have much facial or body hair. Also, blacks tend to have less facial and body hair than whites. Your generalization is way off, and I am generally a generalizer.  :)
Frankly, I think that the reason many in your generation don’t shave is because of laziness and being brainwashed into a pseudo machoness.

Moses had a beard.  Christ had a beard.  Gandalf had a beard.  Do I need to go on?

Women can’t grow beards.  Effiminacy is when men act like women, but beards are effeminate?  That makes as much sense as taking a blind man to a silent movie.

I'm not on board the male obsession of raising facial hair choices to the level of dogma, so I'll change the subject...

I understand there's a new Gillette commercial out of a woman being taught to shave by her father after having consumed enough male hormones to grow facial hair.

One of the new things I've learned in recent history with the continued downfall of our culture is that it's much easier for a woman to appear to be a man than vice versa. I find that disturbing because I'd rather like it to be visually rather obvious when someone is pretending to change their gender. Unfortunately, "fake men" can on initial impression look very much like the real deal.

Unusual subject indeed. I was born into a culture where men shaved their faces and some did not. Personally I never had any inclination to 'wear' a beard, much preferring to be clean shaven. As for wondering what I would look like with a beard I once filled in a photo of myself with a beard and moustache. That was enough. I am happy with none. Indeed I cannot distinguish one guy today with a beard from another. They all look the same, hair dominating their faces.

As for beards in early Christianity, as a kid I used to think razors were not invented then so they had to wear beards.

With regard to the competition and the beards illustrateed, well good for them. Why not. I certainly have no problem. Indeed these guys have clean beards they take care of. Its all a bit of fun.
