  • This prophecy from Our Lady of Fatima is all over the internet, but i have never seen the actual source or the exact date of it.

Some places say it was given in 1917, others in 1920 when Jacinta was dying in a hospital. Which one is it?

Has anyone ever seen the exact source for it? Where did it come from?

I am in favor of it but it's embarrassing when you quote something without any sources.

  • But you do have a source: The Blessed Virgin Mary to Jacinta, surely that's good enough. No reason to be embarressed just because you don't know the exact date. But I'm pretty sure some Fatima scholar will know the answer.

That's just a claim, because if they ask me "Where can i find that?" the best i can say is "on the internet." and then they can say "oh that's just made up!" because i don't know for sure if it really did happen and where exactly it came from.

It makes things worse that there are 2 dates flying around.

This reminds me of that claim that Pope St. Pius X "looked at the Catholic Encyclopedia with disgust and threw it on the floor" that is flying around on the net too. I have never seen any actually source for that either, only people quoting it .

  • The devil's final battle by fr. Kramer is a good book.
There a loads of books about Fatima. The only real problem is the Portuguese newspapers are all in Portuguese,  but you can point people to them. The originals have been scanned on several websites.

But Our Lady said much of the same things at Quito and Akita. There's close to 400 years of admonitions and prophesy from Our Lady and lots of books concerning them.
    Matthew 6:34
" Be not therefore solicitous for to morrow; for the morrow will be solicitous for itself. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof."

  • I think it is very wise to provide an exact source.

All serious discussions should include them. The best Catholic books always include sources and footnotes.

I love that claim about Pope Saint Pius X and the Catholic Encyclopedia. I hope it is legitimate.

  • Maybe an April Fool's Day gag on this forum could include completely made up quotes and attribute them to popes from the past.

No one, who fears God, should ever even consider putting words in Our Lady's mouth - ever!

So, maybe that should apply to the rest of the saints and even the popes.

Fake quotes are very annoying and can be huge time killers because people go on wild goose chases over them and sometimes wars are started over them...   ...the devil is a liar and the father of lies!

So, just forget about my idea in the top paragraph in this post.

  • A poster who I have great respect for once did comment that female prostitutes in the time period of 1895-1905 dressed more modestly than the average SSPX lady today and that's probably true.  The women of the SSPX are beacons of virtue in this day and age and are making an effort to be virtuous and modest but they are less modest than the average woman in a photo from the 1910's.  The women in the novus ordo often wear mini skirts.

The quote attributed to Our Lady is right on.  The 20th century saw many offensive dress styles and now many young people feel as if the top of their rear end is something to let be seen by all.  It is repulsive.  And then when you consider that one repulsive fashion is replaced by another repulsive fashion and it makes you wonder if these are the last times or if these are the last times for souls destined for Heaven and that the Earth will fester for many thousands of years with upright savages parading around.

  • And what of the repulsive tatoos?

Who would doubt that the Blessed Virgin would say such a thing? Somebody who intends to keep using those "certain fashions", that's who!

Fashion itself is a form of slavery, apart from the cosideration of modesty and propriety.

    Mabel is correct,.
Vanessa is kindly instructing other souls who disregard her because they don't want to hear the message.  So they dismiss Our Holy Mother's words by claiming it's a rumor on the internet.
More precise information would help her and those she is helping.

  • taken from "Our Lady of Fatima's Peace Plan from Heaven":

    Quote
As the Blessed Mother had promised, Francisco and Jacinta soon joined her in Heaven. The little boy died from the flu in April, 1919 and his sister from pleurisy in February, 1920.

Before she died, little Jacinta revealed some little-known but remarkable statements made by Our Lady of Fatima. Here are some of them:

    ...

'Certain fashions will be introduced that will offend Our Lord very much.'

This doesn't give an exact date. If it's on record, you'd need a more detailed source.

  • OK, here goes.

This statement is usually part of what has come to be known as the Prophecy of St. Nilus, a name attributed to at least two of the desert fathers.

In spite of my ongoing challenge going back many years, no one has ever provided proof of its authenticity.

Have a shot at it, if you wish. This the first time I have heard any connection to Fatima. I'm sure you can find the complete text if you google it.

Things like this happen, and that is why docuмentation is so important, as are checking the translation and using primary sources. Sometimes, misquotes pass into a kind of doctrine and people make the mistake of binding others by them.
