  • So it is abominable for women to use pants because they are men's clothing, not to mention because they are immodest anyways.

So what about shirts? Are these not men's apparel too? Or have they been viewed as "unisex"?

Men will probably say they are men's apparel and women will probably claim  them blouses.

How does a woman dress modestly (if pants are immodest) when mucking out stalls?

  • Aside from the moral and biblical reasons, ladies just look incredibly good in skirts! Please forgive me, for my zeal regarding this matter.

These threads always turn into threads about pants, just wait and see. It is like the law of gravitation...

  • I asked before about women wearing coats and jackets and not shawls or capes, are coats and jackets not men's clothing?

You bet pants are immodest, unless you wear very loose/oversized pants which then look ridiculous and man-like.

    Is this a serious question?

Get a MAN to do that.

Look at this nun gardening, from the movie Black Narcissus:

I wear an old dress or skirt and blouse, suitably long and sturdy, for mucking out stalls, changing oil, haying, painting, roofing, all manner of work.  The only time I wear "pants" is leggings for warmth under a long dress or skirt.  As far as "shirts" no real man would be caught dead in mine.  They're clearly styled or of a print for a woman.  Men's and women's jackets, coats shirts are buttoned from different sides.  The only thing I might wear of men's apparel may be barn boots or work boots!  Pastel shades end up very grungy!  Traditional sisters could be accused of wearing unisex shoes!  I sometimes do get a man's shoe because I have wide feet and cannot tolerate heels.  I need a flat shoe or I can barely walk due to knee pain and cramps in my calves.  The question is what exactly "pertains to a man or woman"?  Clearly, garments designed for gender-specific parts of the anatomy are to be worn by the corresponding gender.  In Jesus' day, men wore robes.  Why not today?  Like it or not, a lot of how we interpret this verse is culturally based.  Any more thoughts?
St. Francis Xavier threw a Crucifix into the sea, at once calming the waves.  Upon reaching the shore, the Crucifix was returned to him by a crab with a curious cross pattern on its shell.

Me, when I was in high school in the 9th grade, and my teacher said that she would teach me to ride if I did some work for her. That never happened. :( I STILL haven't gotten to ride a horse yet.

I've mucked barns, put up fence, stacked hay, herded sheep and cattle, castrated bulls and rams, vaccinated livestock, collected samples from livestock, trained horses, delivered lambs, sheared sheep, milked goats, and performed practically any other work that one finds to do on a farm.  Some things you can do easily in a skirt, and others you cannot.  For modesty's sake, as well as safety's, it is better for some tasks to put on a pair of jeans.

Hoeing a garden and raking leaves is very different from straddling a sheep in an effort to get anthelmintic down its throat.

The good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.  But the hireling, and he that is not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and flieth, and the wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep.  A
