  • Below the first row of asterisks is the copy of an email that I sent out today, December 8th, to my mailing list.  The email was sent with an attachment I had received from Dr. Robert Sungenis.  Below my signature and the second row of asterisks I have placed the text of that attachment.

    ********************************************************************
    Dear family, friends, and acquaintances,

This email is being sent to you on behalf of Dr. Robert Sungenis, Catholic apologist extraordinaire.  Dr. Sungenis and his associates have a very special message for you (and for the whole world!), the full gist of which is contained in the attachment.  In short, it is an announcement of an astonishing/astounding -- truly astonishing/astounding -- scientific movie docuмentary (The Principle) some 3 years in the making.  The release of the trailer on youtube along with the launch of the movie website (www.theprinciplemovie.com) is set for tomorrow December 9th.

I don't believe I am exaggerating in the least when I say that I think this movie will be one of remarkable historic importance not only in the annals of cinema, but way beyond that.

I quote Dr. Sungenis' words from the attachment: "The Principle is unlike any movie you have ever seen or may ever see. It is the first of its kind, mainly because the information it presents has only been available within the last two decades, and very few people know about it. What is it?  Brace yourself! New and verified scientific evidence reveals astounding information: (1) there is not now, and never has been, any scientific proof that the Earth is moving in space; and (2) the universe, as defined by its largest and most pervasive structures, is aligned with the Earth’s equator and the ecliptic, both leading to the likely inference that the Earth is at or near the center of the universe."  Needless to say, the implications of such findings reach far beyond the natural sciences, although the effect of such findings in those sciences alone would be world shaking in scope.

We may recall how in Mexico on December 9th 482 years ago the Blessed Virgin Mary first appeared to the humble Indian Juan Diego.  Three days later she left him with her miraculous image on what became known as the Tilma of Guadalupe.  The rest as they say is history.  It may well be that the appearance of The Principle trailer tomorrow (if all goes well!) will to some degree have a similar electrifying snow ball effect for the good, not just for mankind on a natural level, but on an infinitely more important spiritual level.  May we pray that it be so!

In addition to prayer which I implore of you, I would ask that you most strongly consider taking a few minutes to forward the message of The Principle to others as soon as possible.  (We hope to have the trailer go "viral" which will be most important in seeking further promotional financing for the film.)  Just a few minutes of your time!  It is a missionary work of sorts!  The message is one fully supportive of traditional Catholic Church teaching and one which can truly help in its own way to restoring the teaching authority of Holy Mother Church.  A.M.D.G.

In Jesus Christ our King and Mary our Queen,
    James Phillips

    December, 2013

    Dear Friends,

Hello! This is Robert Sungenis, the executive producer of the upcoming
feature film and scientific docuмentary, The Principle. I am writing to
you because I want to enlist your help in making the debut of The
    Principle
    a great success.

First, let me tell you a little about The Principle so that you might
become as enthusiastic about it as I and our Hollywood crew at Stellar
Motion Pictures and In Ohm Entertainment have become.

Briefly, The Principle is unlike any movie you have ever seen or may ever see. It is the
first of its kind, mainly because the information it presents has only been available within
the last two decades, and very few people know about it. What is it?

Brace yourself!! New and verified scientific evidence reveals astounding information: (1)
there is not now, and never has been, any scientific proof that the Earth is moving in
space; and (2) the universe, as defined by its largest and most pervasive structures, is
aligned with the Earth’s equator and the ecliptic, both leading to the likely inference that
the Earth is at or near the center of the universe.

That’s right. You heard it here first. Our 90-minute docuмentary, which we plan to put in
theaters across the country in 2014, will show for the first time in history the shocking
scientific evidence that strongly suggests the Copernican Principle is wrong – the modern
belief that the Earth is neither unique nor inhabits a special place in the universe and that
the human race is no more significance than star dust.

This is one of those movies you must see to believe. You have been told all your life by
such icons as Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking and even Mr. Wizard, that the Earth is a
mere speck of dust among the myriads of galaxies, lost in some remote corner of the
universe with no rhyme or reason to its existence.

Well, we are about to change all that, and in a very
dramatic way. I know that once you
see the movie, the odds are that you will become a believer like me. For agnostics, not
only will their lives begin to have much more meaning, they will understand the very
purpose of their existence. For believers, everything will instantly make sense as they see
the barrier between religion and science melt before their eyes.

    The Production of The Principle

Not only does The Principle have an astounding story to tell, the way we tell it, in the
words of J. David Williams, a movie financier who had a private screening of The
Principle a few weeks ago, “is the best that could possibly be done.” (See Mr. Williams
IMDb page here: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0930801/). By Hollywood standards
The Principle was made on a shoe-string budget, but with ingenuity we were able to
garner some of the top talent in both the entertainment industry and scientific academia.

For example, the narrator for The Principle
is Kate Mulgrew, a four-decade veteran of
stage and screen who once starred as
“Captain Janeway” on the television series,
Star Trek Voyager. Her resonating voice is
as captivating now as it was back then. You
may have seen Kate on television shows
such as NTSF, Orange is the New Black,
Warehouse 13, Flatland 2, Murphy Brown,
St. Elsewhere, and dozens of others. On the
left is a picture of Kate in our recording
studio. On her IMDb page, she lists our
    movie as her 61st credit.

Since a movie like ours depends a lot on its
graphics, we hired one of the best in the
business, BUF Compagnie of Paris, France.
Their IMDb page lists The Principle as one of
the movies for which they did “visual effects”
We chose BUF because they have great
experience. They have done the graphics for
almost one hundred films over the last twenty years. In 2012, BUF did the graphics for
Life of Pi, which won the Academy Award for “Best Visual Effects.” Other examples of
BUF’s artistry which you may have recently seen are: Thor, Avatar, Spiderman 3, Harry
Potter, Matrix Reloaded, Fight Club. At left is a picture of Robert Schajer, BUF’s U.S.
director, with whom we worked very closely.

In addition to BUF, we also hired SaintsLA for special
effects. Among their many contributions to the film,
they created our one-of-a-kind “Hologram Girl” who
educates the audience to various scientific facts. This is
just one example of their innovativeness and talent. At
left is Zachary Kinney, the lead animator with whom we
worked on our film. Below him is a snapshot of
Hologram Girl. You can see their website at
    (http://www.saintsvfx.com/).

For music, we hired Richard Robson Remix.
Richard (at right) has been doing music for movies
for the last 15 years and has over 50 credits to his
    name. (http://www.allmusic.com/artist/richardrobson-
mn0000257070). He was nominated in 2006
for sound editing on Batman Begins. His IMDb
page lists some of his major credits, such as Kung
Fu Panda and Jack and the Beanstalk. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2076175/).

One special work of Richard’s is recording
the singer sensation, JES. We hired JES to
sing our original theme song, Sky Stand Still.
JES will be singing this at the end of The
Principle and excerpts of her song will be
featured in many of the advertisements we
will release. JES is a modern-style secular singer with whom we hope to reach the
younger generation (Gen X and Gen Y) of this world.

A very important part of movie advertisement is
the “trailer.” These are 1 to 3 minute clips of
upcoming movies you’ve seen on TV many times.
They contain excerpts of the movie so that you can
get an idea of the story line. For this project we
hired Mike Kurthy of Ye Olde Trailer Shoppe in
Los Angeles. Among Mike’s list of
accomplishments is the trailer cut for the movie
Romeo and Juliet, starring Leonardo Dicaprio. He also did the trailer cuts for the final
season of the hugely successful television series “24.”

Another important facet of movie making is
promotion and advertising. For this we hired one
of the best in the business. His name is Bob
Angelotti. Bob has fallen in love with our film
and considers it one of the most important
projects of his career. Bob has promoted such
films as Passion of the Christ (2004), March of
the Penguins (2005), Mary (2013) and Snake and
Mongoose (2013). As an example of Bob’s expertise, when every major studio in
Hollywood refused to support Passion, Bob started a grassroots campaign of promotion
that ended up making Passion the biggest box office success in the history of movie
making. See Bob’s IMDb page at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2619565/ (NB: it is not
    up to date).

None of what I’m talking about above would be possible without the production crew,
although we don’t have room to list them all. They are our producers, Rick Delano and
Jeff Foy, and our director, Katheryne Thomas. In the three years that it has taken them to
make The Principle, especially with the small budget with which they had to work, a
movie about them should be made someday showing how they accomplished this
amazing feat. It was a pleasure working with all of them. They did an amazing job.
Rick Delano, producer Katheryne Thomas, director Jeff Foy, producer

Last but certainly not least is the cast of characters in the film. For this we obtained some
of the best names in academia. These are the top cosmologists in the world who, in one
way or another, help us make the case for the Earth’s unique place in the universe. For
example, we have such popular figures as Michio Kaku of City University of NY, Max
Tegmark of MIT, Lawrence Krauss of ASU, George F. R. Ellis of the Univ. of Cape
Town, Julian Barbour of the Univ. of Cambridge, and many more. Some of them you
may have seen on the Discovery Channel or the History Channel since they appear there
regularly. Below are excerpted photos from our film of our whole cast.

 Tell them that both The Principle’s Facebook page and The Principle’s website
will have a button they can click to see the Trailer of The Principle.

 Tell them to click the button that says “Like it.”

 Tell them they can also join the “live conversations” at Facebook and the
    website.

 Tell them, above all, to share all this information with everyone on their email
list, Facebook page, etc. etc., before and also after Monday, Dec. 9.

Finally, I say with no exaggeration or special pleading (and for reasons I cannot explain to
you right now) that your participation in this campaign is absolutely essential for the success
of The Principle. So please, just take a few minutes out of your day and send this PDF to all
the people you know, and ask them to send it to all the people they know.

Above all, you must go to The Principle’s Facebook and website and make your “clicks.”
We are counting each “click,” and our success depends on your “clicks.”

  • I looked up "hyperbole" in the dictionary.  It gave this thread as an exempla gratia.

  • There is no reason to even try to 'prove' something so contrary to everything humankind knows and uses about the universe.

Leaving aside the hopelessness of Bob Sungenis' position (which has been refuted so, so many times that I don't think adding any more pages to it will benefit anyone) WHY is anyone interested in this?

Think about it:  This became a 'thing' in the time of Galileo and Kepler because of an ERROR by certain Catholics.  This error was to claim that minor inferences of scriptural texts which to bear on scientific topics must be defended as literally true in all cases.

This was, and is, an error.

Scripture, owing to the concepts in use at the time of its writing, can be used to make a variety of scientific statements...but this is not how Catholics read scripture.  When the Bible says that God caused a drought, we do not infer from this that all weather is miraculous and there's no way to understand weather.  When Paul says to drink wine for one's stomach, we do not infer from this that wine is a magic cure-all for digestive ailments.

Likewise, when Joshua prays that the Sun and Moon stand still, we do not infer that in scientific actuality, they are are moving.  Rather, being thinking people, we understand that to the ancients of course the Sun and Moon appeared to move, and so it's the most natural thing in the world for Joshua to say to them 'stop'.  What would have been the result if he has said "Earth, stop rotating!".

The rest of the Israelites would have looked at him like a crackpot and said 'What?  How's that going to help?" and Joshua would have said "Yes, right, I know it's not obvious, this will have to wait two and a half thousand years, but something called 'gravity' will be described and combined with concepts of mass and momentum which are going to be discovered by some Greeks in several hundred years, along with the telescope..."

    "What's a telescope, Joshua?"

"Erm, well, it's a sort of tube thingy, with glass, and you look through it."

    "What can you see?"

"Well, you can see things that are far away, and man named Galileo will use it to view the moons of Jupiter and prove that not everything revolves around the Earth, and that will sew things up and that's why I have to say'Earth, stop!' to be literally correct you see."

"What do you mean 'around the Earth'?"

"Ah, right.  Well chaps, the Earth is not flat...."

    ----

Obviously, God, and the inspiration of scripture, does not work that way.  There is NO reason to fight this sad and losing fight.  I'll let St. Augustine say it far better than I could:

    Quote
“Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, the heavens, and the other elements of this world, about the motion and orbit of the stars and even their size and relative positions, about the predictable eclipses of the sun and moon, the cycles of the years and the seasons, about the kinds of animals, shrubs, stones, and so forth, and this knowledge he holds to as being certain from reason and experience.

Now, it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an infidel to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy Scripture, talking nonsense on these topics; and we should take all means to prevent such an embarrassing situation, in which people show up vast ignorance in a Christian and laugh it to scorn. The shame is not so much that an ignorant individual is derided, but that people outside the household of faith think our sacred writers held such opinions, and, to the great loss of those for whose salvation we toil, the writers of our Scripture are criticized and rejected as unlearned men.

If they find a Christian mistaken in a field which they themselves know well and hear him maintaining his foolish opinions about our books, how are they going to believe those books in matters concerning the resurrection of the dead, the hope of eternal life, and the kingdom of heaven, when they think their pages are full of falsehoods and on facts which they themselves have learnt from experience and the light of reason? Reckless and incompetent expounders of Holy Scripture bring untold trouble and sorrow on their wiser brethren when they are caught in one of their mischievous false opinions and are taken to task by those who are not bound by the authority of our sacred books. For then, to defend their utterly foolish and obviously untrue statements, they will try to call upon Holy Scripture for proof and even recite from memory many passages which they think support their position, although they understand neither what they say nor the things about which they make assertion."

  • It worries me that Traditional Catholics seem to have more than our fair share of people who appear to delight in being contrary.  And despite the fact they personally struggle to function in the world particularly well, they seem to have very strong  and confident opinions on cosmology, economics and other very complex topics.

Why can none of these hyper clever people design a new type of computer chip or a better e commerce site?

Evolution is unproven, but egocentrism is a definite and observable fact in Trad circles.

It's possible, of course, that there is a massive matrix like conspiracy but I have never seen evidence of it myself and I have hung around the halls of power for at least 12 years.  I think one of the people I speak to regularly would let something slip now and then which led me to suspect that a star council was controlling things.

Personally I believe the much scarier reality is that nobody (human) is really in charge of events at all.  It's governed by a mixture of Providence and randomness. The dividing line between them being hard to detect.

At some level we have to trust people or life becomes a giant sh!t sandwich in which it is impossible to bring children up content with their lot in life or their place in the world.  You cannot live long term with this level of paranoia.

I think the planets revolve around the sun for the simple reason that the Sun is massive compared to the planets.  As electrons buzz around the larger atomic nucleus, so planets go around a star.

  • On the contrary, there's the more grave error of elevating science to the point where it is deemed to have greater certainty than theology.

Most modern science, from medical science, to archeology, to astronomy ... it's all crap.

  • Man are the modernists out in full force on this thread.

You claim to be rational, scientific, and objective ... yet haven't seen more than a small trailer on the movie before casting judgment.  Sounds pretty scientific and objective to me.

  • Not sure how it is proven false.

It certainly is not proven true.  It has huge holes and credibility gaps.

Either way I don't believe it is true.

    Psalms 103:5
Who hast founded the earth upon its own bases: it shall not be moved for ever and ever.
"I Think it is Time Cathinfo Has a Public Profession of Belief." "Thank you for publicly affirming the necessity of believing, without innovations, all Infallibly Defined Dogmas of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church."

  • Macroevolution has been ripped to shreds a million different ways.

It's maintained nowadays by people who simply don't want to accept intelligent design.  It's actually more driven by religious belief than creationism.

Basically, the proponents of evolution have decided to wage a war against God and creationism, and since they cannot find any alternative theory that works in scientific terms, they continue to prop up evolution by way of propaganda (rather than science) because they don't want to believe in God.  Period.
