Methinks God's infinite and abiding caritas will stop that from happening!  :laugh1::laugh1::cowboy:

Now there are souls who can suck the life/joy out of a Trad parish/mission! :smirk:

Fret not and have no fear, Our Lord in His goodness and wisdom won't let it happen.
Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you, all things pass away: God never changes. Patience obtains all things. He who has God finds he lacks nothing; God alone suffices. - St. Teresa of Jesus

Bingo. Precisely the observation that prompted my question.

  • They will just be stuck in purgatory until they get some joy. :jester:

  • Heaven = Joy, i.e. beatitude, so not possible.

And then it depends on how you define "joy".  If by "joy" one means mirth, merriment, i.e. emotional manifestations of joy, I think those would be relatively subdued and would fade in comparison to the spiritual beatitude.

I define "joy" as tuna fishing with my family. :cowboy:

I also think there is a signification fraction of "trads" who would invent something to complain about in Heaven.

Although that is true, there are some that seem joyless because of a severe case of scruples or OCD, or some other type of mental illness or emotional trauma or some combination of all these problems. Then combine that with a poor or erroneous understating or poor foundation of the Catholic Faith and you can get some serious issues.

In short, there are natural impediments some people have to experiencing natural joy, but these impediments will no longer be present in Heaven.

That is true. In the meantime, when dealing with these seemingly joyless people in our chapel, let us be slower in complaining about them and if possible, try to help them.

The first step in helping them is to spotlight the problem.

In our parish I am pleased to see the return of parish social events—BBQs, picnics, bourbon & cigar night.

These are healthy things.… especially the booze and tobacco. ;-)

How did the return come about?
