To get back to the original intent of the thread, I'll throw in my 2 cents on the "great deception".
I believe one poster had already opined that the great deception has already occurred, which I'm inclined to believe myself.
I am of the belief that the Chair of Peter has been vacant since the 1958 conclave. When Cardinal Siri was threatened, after he had received the most votes, he abandoned his responsibility and Roncalli was "elected"; taking the name of a previous antipope - John XXIII. Curiously enough, the original antipope John XXIII called a false council during the Western Schism. Following suit, of his antipope predecessor, Roncalli called for the false council - Vatican II.
In my opinion, the great deception, brought on in 1958, was that the devil and his cohorts placed themselves in the Temple of God and built a counterfeit church, directly opposed to the Catholic Church, striking the shepherd and scattering the flock.
The Blessed Mother warned the world at La Salette when she said, "Rome will lose the faith and become the seat of the Anti-Christ...the Church will be in eclipse."
