I didn't know that Pablo hated the flat earth, as Neal does. Interesting. It's one thing to believe that the earth isn't flat. It's another thing to be so against it as to be extremely uncharitable toward those who hold a flat earth view.

To make a beach ball flat, all you have to do is look at it from a distance through a pair of binoculars.

Any spherical object in fact looks to be flat from a distance when seen through binoculars.

So whatever you have, a basketball or a hot air balloon, you can cause it to become flat by using binoculars at a distance.

It seems to me this is the basis and explanation for flat-earthers to have come out with their platitude that the moon is a flat disk.

They have said (not all but some) that the moon and the sun are flat disks, something like their claim to the shape of their "flat" earth.

You can't look at the sun through binoculars but you can definitely look at the moon.
.
So by concluding that the moon is a "flat" disk, it's no big leap to say "so is the sun."

Since the moon APPEARS to be flat when viewed through binoculars, and since reality is in the mind (the principle premise upon which all modern philosophy and therefore Modernism is founded and also the (false) maxim into which they can be distilled) consequently, the moon IS "flat" and so is the sun, so it should be no surprise that the earth is, as well, by their defective thinking.

Furthermore, they have taken this error to their explanation of the moon's phases by saying that the appearance of the changing shadow and light on the moon which we call its "phases" is not caused by the sun shining on the moon, but rather that the moon's light comes from inside the moon, somehow.

They have done this, it seems to me, in order to avoid the insurmountable problem that necessarily results from observing the moon's phases from the vantage point of the earth's surface, and thinking about what they mean.

They cannot answer the questions about the moon's phases (which I have asked in several threads on CI) so to avoid the discussion, they try to change the ground rules by making up stuff about what the moon is and what causes its phases to occur.

Then to top it off, since they're so revolted by their own inadequacy, they resort to accusing me of being "uncharitable." Go figure.

They have no theory to propose as to how this moonlight is generated, what the power source is, where the electric meter is or who pays the bill.

Then, going from there, they have said that the sun is an electric light bulb.

I'm sorry, but you can't make this stuff up.

That's right, the sun is an electric light bulb, and so is the moon, and by moving around over the earth like an armature rotating, they generate electricity, with one the positive pole of a huge battery and the other the negative pole.

The moon's light causes sickness and corruption, they say, because it takes away energy, and it has a lower temperature, which can be measured with a thermometer on your picnic table in the back yard, for example.

Yes, it may be the bottom of the barrel. That's where the rabid anti-flat earthers tend to dwell. It's just a case of going down to their level for awhile.
