They probably claim far more in taxes from smokers than what they pay out for the health service

Even with the NGO's claim of £6.8 billion in revenue the cost/benefit ratio is in smoking's favour. It's when it's combined with the 'other' costs of smoking, that the NGO's claim it's a net negative.

I would like to see a statistician review the NGO's methodology, seems like calculating the product and dividing by totals reduces the focus on those who have compounding issues, e.g. obese and smokes.
