    I certainly think the what we got is the Pope being the Vicar of Christ, which is his title , basically he is saying I am the successor to Jesus manifest in the world.    thats what the Catholics believe. I dont have a problem with that .that is what they believe. That's up to them.  He speaks with Divine authority.

    What they have to ask themselves

    Does that Divine authority supercede even the biblical Divine narrative?

    That is the challenge a sincere Catholic has to ask themselves

    Is the representative of Jesus in the world allowed to put himself above the words of Jesus?

    and above the words of the biblical narrative.

    I don't think Christians really can allow that to happen and still really think they are Christians.
