    I see your point, but it does matter in the sense that we could all check our egos at the door, admit where we are trained (or not) and have a rational discussion.  For example, I started off in college in engineering and hated it.  I'm as far from a scientist as one can get (both in training and in love of it).  All I'm trying to do is ask common sense questions.  I realize the limitations of this approach so I try to learn.


    I'd like to hear your and Marion's self-described limitations in this area.  Let's all just be honest.

    When Scripture says the "earth" it means the land.  When modernist, freemasonic, atheistic scientists say "earth" they mean the WORLD, in their planetary re-definition.  They have changed Scripture's use of earth and have muddied the waters for the last 5 centuries.

    For the sake of transparency on my part, I have a BA in history and work in the medical field. I'm no scientist either, but I accept the truth where I find it.

    Agreed.  Even many of those with advanced degrees are dumber than a box of rocks (I've run into a few in various fields).  I did very well in Physics, Chemistry, computer sciences, and especially in the more advanced math area (went as far as Abstract algebra), but I'm no scientist.  Even if I were, my word is not worth more than anyone else's unless I have the evidence to back it up.  MAYBE if someone did their dissertation in a very specific field of inquiry, they might have some more credibility than others.  But in most cases, you just survey various subjects at the surface level and don't dive into the nitty gritty details.

    You have just as much science education as Fr Robinson.  I knew him before he was a priest.  He is smart but he's not a scientist.

    No, they've said the Earth is round for thousands of years. In the 200s BC they were already Greeks calculating the circuмference of the globe. While among the Church Fathers there was some disagreement over whether the Earth was flat or spherical, in Christian Europe in the Middle Ages it was universally believed that it was a globe.

    • Forlorn, again, this is a question of words, definitions and semantics.

    Is the globe round?  Of course.
    Is the globe just the flat land?  No, not in my opinion.
    What is the globe?  It could be defined as the world, which includes the earth/land, sky/heavens, firmament, sun/moon/planets.  That is, a dome-globe, dome-earth model.

    Did the pagans use the word 'globe' to talk about land only?  Yes, it appears so.
    Did the Middle Ages use the world 'globe' to mean the earth/land or all of creation?  I don't think it's consistently used in one way.

    Although such information is, as I have argued elsewhere (e.g. with Mark79), extremely germane, those with some kind of skin in the game are very unlikely to be open and honest.  It is not just a question of professional training, it may very well be a question of livelihood, dependence upon research monies, etc.  Frankly, if anyone has skin in the game to whatever degree, I believe everyone has a right to know.

    This and the sun are my two biggest barriers to throwing myself behind FE. For the record I don't think we've been to the moon and probably haven't been into "space", whatever that is or however it is constructed (out of Earth's atmosphere I guess).

    Sorry, but you're proving yourself completely ignorant.  Things disappear bottom up as they leave the vision range of the whatever level of magnification you're at.  That's just the limits of vision and perspective.  I've seen this exact thing replicated by Flat Earthers, who then simply increase the magnification and bring the entire thing back into view.  There's no indication regarding the level of magnification, distance of the object, the device used to film it, etc.  Why was there no attempt whatsoever to increase the zoom level?  Because if the device had the capability, then it would have brought the boat back.  This is the most thoroughly debunked of all the globe earth "proofs" and still you ignorantly cling to it.
