The unforgivable sin as understood by Protestants
Protestantism generally does not understand the true... Explanation vis a vis the unforgivable sin. The unforgivable sin is not just saying unkind words to God or whatever... How could THAT be the one and only unforgivable sin? If you live long enough in this world, you will say unkind things to God!!!!!
But those who do not understand the Bible believe this kind of thing.
The unforgivable sin is to reject Christ's forgiveness, and do so UNTIL death. End of Sentence. This is the only sin that is not forgiven in “the age to come” (Purgatory), as mentioned in Mt 12:32. The blasphemers in that passage (whom Jesus address) know that Jesus is the Messiah but they reject him anyway. And yet this teaching is not clear from that scripture alone (sola scriptura) or any other—or even all the others combined... Only the Church Christ founded (The Roman Catholic Church) can interpret Scripture infallibly. Maybe most of the Bible (New Testament, that is) can be understood by a 10-year old. But what about the parts that are not easily understood?
This whole issue of the unforgivable sin—what that is, etc... is the best example of why we need a CHURCH. Anyone can read the Bible. Not everyone can be presumed to interpret it infallibly. In fact, no human, un-aided by Jesus Christ himself (His Church) can do that.
As unhappy as I am with the Cathlic Church as it is today, I will always be Catholic.
It is the pope (and co.) who are not Catholic IMO
