I've given up even voting except for locals who hardly identify with either "party". (Well, I wrote in "Putin" in the last Presidential election, and dead "Saddam" in the one before that). American "government" is such a facade, at least since I've been self-aware (late Reagan through esp. Clinton+). I'm not sure if there's some
horrid secret that self-respecting politicians don't learn until they get elected and get some power, or if all politicians are basically actors paid by the Saudis, or what, but absolutely nothing makes sense politically in America.
I've lurked on both "active liberal people" and "active conservative people" sites for years to see how they explain their own candidates' weirdo decisions, like the attack on Iraq in '03, and this war with Syria. The people "
in the trenches" can't explain their own candidates any more than we can. Sure, they'll come out punching and defend their candidates after finding some ridiculous common ground, but what a pathetic lot. Seriously pathetic. They've all got to give up strongly-held beliefs to be part of the "political landscape". The active liberals seem to just want all religion exterminated to get their 'utopia' (but they hate each other religiously); while the active conservatives boil it all down to a mysterious
love of Israel (guess they're wannabe Jєωs?). I seriously feel sorry for my son who's learning "American Government" this year
because I can't explain it except in an historical sense. I'd rather talk about "The Godfather" film for a full year — it's more realistic and pertinent to our lives. (We're serfs in a corrupt system!)
