The Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano has sharply criticized Charlie Hebdo for a special edition, marking the anniversary of a terrorist attack, that suggests religious faith fosters violence. The French satirical magazine will release a January 7 issue that features a cover portray of God carrying an assault weapon, and the headline: “The murderer is still out there.” “Behind the deceptive flag of uncompromising secularism, the weekly is forgetting once more what religious leaders of every faith unceasingly repeat to reject violence in the name of religion,” L’Osservatore Romano argued; “using God to justify hatred is a genuine blasphemy, as Pope Francis has said several times.”

Incidentally a Turk is in prison for something similar. He got a giant jail sentence for calling the Turkish President a crypto-Jєω:

Pope Francis did say that if someone insults your mother (i.e. the Church) you are allowed to punch him in the face.

I thought he was referring to people offending your religion in the context of being asked about Moslems killing for Charlie Hebdo's satire against Mohamed.

Not defending the Pope here but do not forget that Charlie Hebdo was also extremely anti-Catholic even showing perverted cartoons of the Virgin Mary in a sɛҳuąƖ act with God. I ask the same things Muslims ask as well: if there is free speech in Europe for everything why cannot the h0Ɩ0cαųst even be questioned?
