Title: The pathology and viral nature of social media.
Post by: ggreg on January 06, 2019, 03:16:16 PM
I found this interview very interesting.

I have stayed away from social media, apart from LinkedIn, which I only use for professional discussions and finding new paying customers.  I always had an uneasy feeling about it, and a sense that is was not for me, but could not explain why so I avoided it, like I avoided cigarettes, alcohol when younger.

90 mins long, but try to find the time to watch it.  Very insighful.

I'm about 32 minutes into it, and I can't shake this guy's resemblance to Anthony Bourdain, but he's brought up good points so far.

Alright, now I'm at the 45 minute mark, and from about 44:30 - 45:00, the "Bourdain" guy thinks banning social media is necessary because, for one reason, it'll save lives (less ѕυιcιdєs).

At this point, I'm convinced this guy is a Jєωιѕн plant to galvanize people to oppose social media and push for its abolishment. Why? Social media got Trump elected. Social media awakened many sleepers to the Jєω problem. Social media is helping propel nationalism across the globe. It's true social media has many bad aspects to it, including a lot that's mentioned by this guy, but these people don't really care about the lives of social media users. This guy and the world authorities could care less about people's well-being. They want us to die, anyway, because they think the world population is at a huge surplus. So why would social media-induced ѕυιcιdєs be a concern for them?

I'm now continuing watching the rest...

I agree. I have not watched the video yet, but I think that as with any technological mean of massive communication, social media is just another tool which can be used for good or evil purposes in the world. Either it is used to foment the work of God, or the work of the devil.

It turns out that Mr. Sam Vaknin is indeed an Israeli writer, born to Shepardi Jєωιѕн immigrants.

"He is the author of Malignant Self Love: Narcissism Revisited, has been the editor-in-chief of the former website Global Politician, and runs a private website about narcissistic personality disorder".
