The National Archives of India have acquired the Kallenbach Papers. This is a collection of thousands of letters and docuмents concerning Hermann Kallenbach and Mohandas K. Gandhi. Kallenbach was a German Jєω and Zionist who had befriended Gandhi in South Africa in the early part of the Twentieth Century. One Indian media report says: "There was also a hint that Kallenbach was making Gandhi aware of the condition of Jєωs and Zionism: ' ....your Nehru's messages have augmented my people's hope that the world's leading men will awaken nations consciences against outrageous treatment towards Jєωs and assist in securing a refuge home in Palestine. ' "
