  • You know one point that conservatives and libertarians will never admit to is that there has never been a nation in history that has succeeded by following an economic system of less government, low taxes, and free trade nor does it seem such a society can ever be successful or that other countries want to embrace freedom. That pretty much destroys the intellectual basis of the entire movement does it not?

Good point, Traditional Guy 20.  The exquisitely loathsome Jacobins during the French Revolution followed this general laissez-faire approach, and it gravely damaged France pretty much forever.  The successful "free trade" approach of the British Empire during the 19th Century was actually nothing like this type of program with, for example, Prince Albert promoting all sorts of government initiatives and Disraeli championing government assistance for the white working class on a massive scale against the disgusting British Radicals of those days.

Whereas the "War Communism" of the early Russian Revolution was a lot like our current "Conservative Movement" in supporting laissez-faire chaos for the weak with draconian military socialism for their brutal "Establishment" of the ruling Party.  The "Conservative Movement" only wants "War Communism" for the Pentagon and "conservative" military establishment with misery and death for everyone else.  Just like in early Bolshevik Russia!

The good news is that the "Conservative Movement" is on its last legs and getting ready to fade away into its own well-deserved sunset.  Good riddance to them.

    TOMORROW BELONGS TO US.

Well make no mistake the free trade of the British Empire eventually led to her ruin, as the British had to rely on imports by the time of World War I and World War II just to survive. Also remember that George W. Bush tried tax cuts during his Presidency and it just proved to be a failure. Remember also that free trade is a product of very anti-national and pacifist liberals who wanted the 'good life.'

The problem is that the neoconservatives and libertarians took over the 'conservative movement' from the traditional conservatives and turned it into a movement about war and economics, instead of traditional values and preserving the racial core of society. Both neoconservatism and libertarianism are inherently liberal ideologies.

By the way who is 'us'?

  • US=Catholics???
    Perhaps his meaning....

Britain does have enough land to provide much, maybe most, of its needs, but relied, as you note, on others and were hence, at their mercy for basic needs....a few more yrs of a Hitler blockade would have devastated Britain......plus their anti-gun laws by 1940, we had to ship them much of their home guard weapons.......

Isn't that just like America today? Do not the American people love the 'cheap foreign goods' down at the mall and Wal-Mart and love to shop at the big corporations? Aren't we pretty much relying on China for our products?

Thank goodness I buy American-made products and shop at small businesses, even if I have to pay a little more. If you buy foreign goods you destroy the value of the dollar.

Standard 'Conservative' Response: "You like American-made goods and you think jobs should stay in America and think that working-class men should have a 'living wage'! You protectionist! You socialist! You're destroying the foundations of American free enterprise and free-market capitalism!"
