The Ebola Abortion Comparison

  • Ebola has been captivating my interest on different levels these days, from prayers and concern for those who have contracted this dread disease to disdain for those who I believe are using it for evil means.

During my chores today, I began to compare the tragic toll of human misery ebola is causing to that of abortion or the killing of human life wantonly with purpose.

Just to keep it all in perspective, consider this:

    Abortion:
The number of abortions performed worldwide TODAY at 5:51 pm PDT is 81,568 and this YEAR so far is over 32 million.  The number of abortions performed since 1980 is 1.3 BILLION.

Abortion is 100% preventable and 100 % fatal.

    Ebola:
The number of ebola deaths so far this year is about 3000 and since 1977, that number is about 4000.

Ebola may be preventable if precautions are taken, at least with the information released at this time.  Ebola is fatal it seems in 60-70% of the cases, depending on the level of care given those stricken with it.

My point?  While we all must be in prayer and in care about the ebola disease virus, we must keep it in perspective from a spiritual point of view.  Yes, we live here on Earth now and must care for our lives and for those whom we love, but in perspective, it is far from the worst death struggle that surrounds our life.  Abortion has been something that we have gotten used to because we live in a wicked world.  To those babies and mothers (and dad's too I presume in some cases) abortion has been the abject calamity of a lifetime.  We are being visited with a far less, at this time, calamity of ebola, but we really need to keep it in perspective and pray that God has mercy on us all.
