A few weeks ago I was speaking to a Christian Brother. I got speaking to him regarding their old publications. He was in his mid 60s so obviously one of their younger brothers. Decades ago his order were flourishing and running schools.

I would argue that Ireland needs more religious brothers and an order similar to the Irish Christian Brothers. If they were in tradition the Christian Brothers would be a welcomed addition. I am not sure what their role is today. In the past in Ireland it was much clearer.

From time to time I meet men, who express an interest in religious life though feel not 'cut out' for the missions i.e. going to Africa etc etc. Many want to stay in Ireland but can't find the right order. It seems strange now that you have to propagate the faith in Ireland.

Obviously many in tradition homeschool but now more and more in the novus ordo are homeschooling.

We should also pray that Sister Irene will get some women to join her community. Ireland also needs orders to take over the role of the Sisters of Mercy.
