  • THE CHRISTIAN ZIONISTS
ZOG (Zionist Occupation Government), the old Radical Right term might now be a reality.  And it was the Christians who ushered it in.  Though ZOG (Zionist Oligarchy Government) is much closer to the truth.  This country is now in the hands of the Zionists.  Jєωιѕн Zionists and Christian Zionists. They have taken us into war in Iraq, a war that will have serious long term consequences.  Added to the very significant power of the Jєωs in American politics (already AIPAC is the second most powerful lobby behind AARP) is the power of the Nu-Jєωs, the Christian Zionists, the Christian right.    They have perhaps 30 million core members, some say 40 million, some say considerably more, as high as 70 million, with a subset of 3 million hardcore fundamentalists that might be called Christo-Facists or perhaps even Christo-nαzι's.  Some of these fundamentalist fundamentalists follow the doctrine of Christian Reconstruction with its Taliban-like moralism and want to bring back biblical punishments such as stoning, hanging and execution by the sword.

Outside the huge Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Leanne Cariker of Oklahoma City raises a sign that heads, "Just say No! to a Palestinian state".  Inside, on the stage, Ehud Olmert, the mayor of Jerusalem, shouts to the crowd, "God is with us. You are with us." The crowd goes wild with cheering and shouting, whoops and hollers.  The ancient sound of the shofar, the rams horn used to call the Israelites to war on their neighbors, bellows across the cheering, clapping people.  But these are not Jєωs.  These enraptured people are the Christian Zionists.

Dispensationalism is the core of the the Christian Zionists.  For many their religion is their life and forms their personal and communal identity.  They are part of a cosmic struggle between good and evil.  They see the scriptures coming true around them and are waiting for the return of the Christ which will come soon.  The Jєωs have returned to part of the land that God gave them and they will inhabit it all and the Muslim Dome of the Rock will be destroyed and the Jєωs will build their third temple where the Muslim shrine now stands.

Some of the more radical Dispensationalists support extremist Jєωιѕн organizations such as the Temple Institute and the Temple Mount Faithful.  Several extremist Jєωιѕн groups have made attempts to destroy the Muslim Al-Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock in order that the Jєωs may build their third Temple over the site of the first two. Gershon Salomon, founder of the Temple Faithful, spoke before the Jerusalem Christian Zionist Congress in 1998, asserting: "The Jєωιѕн people will not be stopped at the gates leading to the Temple Mount. We will fly our Israeli flag over the Temple Mount, which will be minus its Dome of the Rock and its mosques."  This, to the Christian Zionists is another step to the fulfillment of prophecy and the coming of the Christ.  Some Dispensationalists have attempted to breed what they call the "perfect red Heifer" the scriptures call for to purify the Temple when this happens.

A Time/CNN poll in 2002  found that 59 per cent of Americans believe in the imminent apocalypse foretold of in the Book of Revelation.

A Gallup poll in 2004 found, 61 per cent of the population believes that "religion can answer all or most of today's problems."

In the late 70's Dispensationalists founded dozens of lobbying groups for the Jєωιѕн state, lobbying Congress, the State Department and the news media.  They began a great political push and those efforts culminated in the election of George W. Bush to the White House but their men and women have been an influence in the government for many years.  Presidents Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush are born-again Christians.  In the 04 elections Evangelical activists created one of the nation's most effective political machines the nation has seen to put George Bush into the White House for a second term.  They brought more than 4 million new Christian voters to the polls in 2004.  Now there are in excess of  200 different evangelical Christian Zionists organizations in the U.S. and Canada.  The U.S. Christian Coalition for Israel serves as an umbrella organization for the Christian Zionists.  Just Pat Robertson's 700 Club has 300,000 viewers each day.  And there are a lot of broadcasters.

"I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag, and to the Savior for whose kingdom it stands. One Savior, crucified, risen and coming again, with life and liberty for all who believe."   Dominionist conference oath.

        What about those who don't?

"Our job is to reclaim America for Christ, whatever the cost.  As the vice regents of God, we are to exercise godly dominion and influence over our neighborhoods, our schools, our government, our literature and arts, our sports arenas, our entertainment media, our news media, our scientific endeavors -- in short, over every aspect and institution of human society."

Reverend Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries

Christian Zionists are totally immersed in their religion.  Their religion forms both their personal and communal identity.  They have a bible centered and prophetic view of the past, present and future.  No matter what Israel does, it is God's will bringing us closer to the end times.  It must be condoned no matter what the act, it must be supported no matter how unfair, and it must be praised because it brings us closer to the time when Israel will occupy all the lands between the Nile in Egypt and the Euphrates in Iraq.  The Promised Land. Closer to the time when the third Jєωιѕн Temple in Jerusalem will rise again on Mount Moriah  (where the Muslim Dome of the Rock now stands) just before the Rapture and return of the Christ.  Most believe that the prophecies of the Book of Revelations will come about in their lifetime.  Theirs is the truth and the one and only truth.  They are the leaders of a cosmic struggle between good and evil.  There are those who are saved and those who are lost to eternal darkness.  They are the ones who see it all unfolding, the rest are blinded by Satan.

Sometimes common sense, historical perspective and critical reasoning are a bit off.

'Only one nation, Israel, stands between Soviet-sponsored terrorist aggression and the complete decline of the United States as a democratic world power... Surely demonic pressure will endeavor to encourage her to betray Israel. This must not happen. Israel is the key to America's survival. For God has said of the nations who will oppose Israel, "Yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted... I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curseth thee..."  As we stand with Israel, I believe we shall see God perform a mighty work in our day. God is going to bless America and Israel as well. It is not too late. I believe this is the greatest hour to be alive, and the key is unity, standing tall, proclaiming with a voice of love our commitment to the House of Israel, and to the God of Israel."

Mike Evans, founder and president of Lovers of Israel Inc

June 2002  General Boykin speaks to a congregation and shows them pictures taken from a helicopter over Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993 after the battle in which 18 American soldiers were killed.   Boykin points to a dark blemish over the city and says, "This is your enemy.  It is the principalities of darkness . . . It is a demonic presence in that city that God revealed to me as the enemy."

October 23, 2003  General Boykin describes the War on Terror as a clash between Christians and ""a guy named Satan".   "Why is this man in the White House?" he asked of George Bush. "The majority of Americans did not vote for him.  He's in the White House because God put him there."

"The most humble Christian is more qualified for office than the best-educated pagan,"   Dominionist activist who led a takeover of his school district's board in San Diego.

Meanwhile, in Washington DC its prophecy politics.  Militant Christian Zionists  and Jєωιѕн Zionists activists continually put pressure on Washington officials on behalf of Israel.  The   Apostolic Congress meets regularly with Elliott Abrams, the National Security Council's Near East and North African Affairs director.  Pastor Upton of the United Pentecostal Church coordinates 50,000 postcards to the president opposing the "Road Map" for peace between the Jєωs and Palestinians.  Christian ayatollahs call for support for the holy crusade in the Middle East and blind support for the theocratic, racist state.  Unanswered questions remain so.  No one got fired for the mistakes on WMD that led to the War in Iraq.  Some got an award.

Religious militant activists combined with the big money religion generates has made the Dominionists a potent political force in Washington DC.  Their man is in the White House.  A growing number of congressmen owe their elections to the Christian Right's massive political machine that brought out the vote in 04.  Few if any will challenge the Jєωιѕн/Israeli lobby in its work on behalf of Israel.  These two religious forces have set the course for the immediate future.  It was not a wise one.

  • Nausea was my response, too.

This didn't say when this night is going to be held.  We need to hold a "Go home, Israeli" night at the same time.  All Christians, that is.

  • Anty, I almost didn't read this.  The thought of listening to praise of Israel was overwhelmingly disgusting.

  • I hope Hagee & his followers like being called 'PIGS'.

Investigation to be launched into racist article in ultra-orthodox magazine Report, Adalah, 7 December 2006

In a letter received by Adalah on 23 November 2006, the State Prosecutor's Office in Israel announced that a criminal investigation for racial incitement into the publication of an article in Issue 160 of the ultra-orthodox Hassidic World magazine will be launched.

Adalah Attorney Abeer Baker sent a complaint to the Attorney General on 23 August 2006, demanding the opening of an immediate investigation on the grounds that that the article, written by Yitzhak Ben-Zvi, contains racist statements and opinions which constitute incitement against Arabs in general and Muslims in particular.

The article, entitled "All Arabs' Intentions are Bad," states that Arabs are an inferior, imbecilic people full of hatred, that they are deceitful and hypocritical savages similar to donkeys and take delight in killing. The author also describes Arabs as more cruel than the nαzιs, and writes that Christians are pigs and Muslims are camels because they live in the past, just as a camel chews over food many times. He also calls the Prophet Muhammad a false prophet. The article was first brought to public attention by the Arabic language newspaper Kol al-Arab, which asked for Adalah's legal intervention.

As Adalah argued in the letter, Ben-Zvi attempted to base his racist expressions on religious sources and rabbis' statements, as if he was expressing their words. For example, the author calls on statements made by one rabbi who, in his opinion, asserted that the hatred and aggression of Arabs towards the Jєωs greatly exceeds that of the nαzιs, and that it is natural that hate must have been sown in the hearts of the Arabs in the present day, too.

Adalah demanded that a criminal investigation be opened into the publication of the article for offenses such as racist incitement (Article 144b(a) of the Penal Law (1977)), and harming religious sensitivities (Article 179 of the Penal Law (1977) and Article 6 of the Anti-Defamation Law (1965)). Adalah argued that the criminal law prohibits the publication of material aimed at incitement, including the use excerpts from the Torah or the statements of religious leaders if the intention of quoting them is incitement. The enormous number of racist and insulting statements made in the article against Arabs purely on the basis of their national and religious belonging demonstrates that the author's goal is racial incitement and to convince the readers of the accuracy of his racist views.

The State Attorney's Office refused to open a criminal investigation for the offense of harming religious sensitivities, stating that: "There is a basis for suspecting that such an offense was committed. However, taking into consideration that it is our policy to minimize offenses which fall on the line of contact with freedom of expression, an investigation into this offense is not justified in this case."

  • DeLay is also a self-declared member of the Christian Zionists, an End-Time faction numbering 20 million Americans. Christian Zionists believe that the 1948 creation of the state of Israel marked the first event in what author Hal Lindsey calls the "countdown to Armageddon" and they are committed to making that doomsday clock tick faster, speeding Christ's return.

In 2002, DeLay visited pastor John Hagee's Cornerstone Church. Hagee preached a fiery message as simple as it was horrifying: "The war between America and Iraq is the gateway to the Apocalypse!" he said, urging his followers to support the war, perhaps in order to bring about the Second Coming. After Hagee finished, DeLay rose to second the motion. "Ladies and gentlemen," he said, "what has been spoken here tonight is the truth from God."

With those words -- broadcast to 225 Christian TV and radio stations -- DeLay placed himself squarely inside the End-Time camp, a faction willing to force the Apocalypse upon the rest of the world. In part, DeLay may embrace Hagee and others like him in a calculated attempt to win fundamentalist votes -- but he was also raised a Southern Baptist, steeped in a literal interpretation of the Bible and End-Time dogma. Biographer Dubose says that the majority leader probably doesn't grasp the complexities of dispensationalist and reconstructionist theology, but "I am convinced that he believes [in] it." For DeLay, Dubose told me, "If John Hagee says it, then it is true."

  • As Bush's War Strategy Shifts to Iran, Christian Zionists Gear Up for the Apocalypse
By Sarah Posner, AlterNet. Posted January 18, 2007.

Christian Zionists are dancing the hora in San Antonio. Armageddon appears to be at hand.
As George W. Bush sets his sights on Iran, even Republicans are wondering how to constitutionally contain the trigger-happy king. But for an influential group of Christian fundamentalists -- White House allies that garner not only feel-good meetings with the President's liaisons to the "faith-based" community but also serious discussions with Bush's national security staff -- an attack on Iran is just what God ordered.

Biblical literalists, convened together through San Antonio megapastor John Hagee's Christians United for Israel (CUFI), are now seeing the fruits of their yearlong campaign to convince the Bush administration to attack Iran.
Hagee came to Washington last summer on the warpath, and many Republicans -- and even a few Democrats -- welcomed him as an alleged supporter of Israel. More than 3,500 CUFI members fanned out across the Capitol to meet with their congressional delegations. Televangelist power brokers, like rising star Rod Parsley of Ohio, who serve as directors of CUFI, now proudly display photographs of their meetings with senators, brows furrowed over the seriousness of the task at hand. But probably Hagee's most important meeting was smaller and not public, at the White House with deputy national security adviser and Iran Contra player Elliott Abrams.

Did the two men talk dispensationalism or diplomacy? That the president's top national security advisor on Middle East policy met with the popular author of a best-selling book that claims that God requires a war with Iran demonstrates just how intensely politics trumps policy (and human lives) for this unhinged administration. Emboldened, Hagee returned to San Antonio fretting that "most Americans are simply not aware that the battle for Western Civilization is engaged" and "don't want to believe that Iran would use nuclear weapons against mighty America. They will!" As the bloody fighting between Israel and Hezbollah raged last August, Hagee organized a grassroots lobbying campaign to blitz the White House switchboard with callers opposed to a cease-fire. Members were urged to call the White House to "congratulate" Bush on using the term "Islamofascists" and on his "moral clarity."

Armed with blood-red rhetoric and the hubris of the politically connected, Hagee filled his 5,000-seat church for a weekend-long event culminating in his Night to Honor Israel in October. To an eager audience preparing for the end times, analogies to Hitler and denouncement of "appeasement" were flying. Anti-Muslim rhetoric was at a fevered pitch. All of it was dressed up as love and benevolence for God's chosen people. But what masqueraded as Biblically mandated generosity toward the Jєωs was nothing more than a political rally for a war not just against Iran, but against Islam, and for the dominance of Christianity (Hagee's brand, of course).

By the end of the year, Hagee was warning his followers that Iran was "reloading for the next war," claiming that he had "reason to believe that Iran will face a military preemptive strike from Israel to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons," and denouncing the Iraq Study Group as "anti-Israel." Although he had spent nearly a year claiming that Iran intended to destroy Israel, Hagee, in rejecting the ISG's recommendation to diplomatically engage Iran, fumed, "America's problems with Iran have nothing to do with Israel. Iran's president has said he intends to use nuclear weapons against the United States of America. My father's generation would have considered this statement a declaration of war and bombed Iran by this time."

Bush knows Hagee's minions are locked and loaded for a war to end not only all wars, but the world. He might have already signed a secret executive order authorizing military action against Iran. But last week Bush nonetheless lamely tried to bring the rest of the country on board with his tried (but by no means true) device of uttering the words "Iran," "nuclear weapons" and "9/11" in the same breath.
His saber rattling won't work for the majority of Americans outraged by his conduct of the Iraq war and opposed to its escalation. But for his listeners gearing up for the end times -- a segment of American evangelicals increasingly united around this issue -- Bush fired up the grandiose rhetoric of a final showdown: "The challenge playing out across the broader Middle East is more than a military conflict. It is the decisive ideological struggle of our time."
