If you haven't seen it yet -- TIME TO WATCH IT! hahaha
They made a ton of good points which is why the video deserves to be handed out on CD to every person in the country
1. They are each doctors with 20 years experience, and their professional training and expertise includes the immune system. They preach the basic scientific fact that isolating, especially literally indoors (not going outside) makes the immune system weaker
2. The overall lower death rate, suggested by their hard data, explains the empty hospitals and furloughed doctors -- it's simply not a classic "plague" with people of all ages dropping left and right, taxing the hospitals -- which is what people first feared. Remember all the field hospitals the military set up which were never used.
3. These doctors raise the issue of other conditions not being treated in hospitals, due to fear of the virus. This will ultimately cause more deaths.
4. The idea of quarantining the healthy is novel and literally never been done before -- and a case could be made that it makes little sense.
5. He points out the complete lack of scientific foundation for "stay at home -- sometimes" or "stay at home - most of the time" orders. If people can go out for groceries, home improvement, liquor, and the other "essentials", you might as well add church, mom & pop stores, cafes, and restaurant dining. Quarantine is quarantine, and going in public is going in public.
6. "Plague cancelled". They point out that no apologies are necessary if we in fact have to switch gears, now that we have more data and experience. Decisions are often made with incomplete or poor data; as data emerges suggesting a different course of action, we can/should switch to that course of action; no apologies or blame necessary. Hindsight is 20/20. Adjust behavior to meet the current situation and data, and move on.
There is simply no difference, from a scientific point of view. If the virus is that contagious and/or prevalent in the community, you can catch it if you occasionally go to Home Depot, Lowes, and other "essential" stores. Meanwhile, in some communities you could out in public for weeks and not catch it -- but those communities didn't have much of the virus to begin with. Either way, this "half quarantine" makes no sense.
It might make the population "feel better" or "feel like you're doing something productive" by going out LESS -- but there's no science or data to back that up; so don't pretend that there is.
