  • This is almost too good to hope for.  Be ready for a strong, strong reaction from the Biden adminstration, and from the "blue states".

The South and that huge Midwest/Rocky Mountain area from Missouri to Idaho, really needs just to secede from the Union and start its own country.  Last time it was slavery, now it's abortion.  True, the rump USA would be split in two (Eastern Seaboard-cuм-Great Lakes states and West Coast), but how different would that be, from Alaska being a prorupted piece of the United States separated by hundreds of miles of Canada?  (Incidentally, Alaska could come along too.)

Not going to happen, but gratifying to think about.  My working name for the new country would be "The American Union".  Good a name as any.

  • Here's a quick-and-dirty snapshot of what it would look like.

This is assuming that no states are split.  Southern Illinois and western Virginia (not to be confused with the state having a similar name) would be near-solid red.  I just put Iowa in the new country and left Arizona out.  Again, quick-and-dirty.
