  • What is the scoop with this group? I know they asked full communion with Rome a few years ago. Did they cut off their ties with the SSPX? I then found THIS article stating their local bishop had blocked the saying of the Tridentine Mass. Looks like a smart move on their part  :tinfoil:

  • This is the "good" Bishop Moran of Aberdeen's interpretation of the Motu Proprio:

Like all priests of the Church they are at liberty to celebrate the forma extraordinaria privately without specific permission, and to have some people with them when they do, but for public celebration the local bishop’s permission is needed

    from http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/damianthompson/100039754/a-historic-latin-mass-in-the-cathedral-of-the-orkney-isles-blocked-by-the-catholic-bishop/

I'm glad that Damian Thompson takes him to task in this article.

  • About two months ago the Pope accepted the resignation of Bishop Moran and now there is a new bishop for Aberdeen. He is Dom Hugh Gilbert OSB the Abbot of Pluscarden. Probably he will be open to them saying the traditional Mass since his abbey does everything in Latin. The Transalpine Redemptorists have never taken up the NOM. They seem to be holding on in good form from their blog which is www.papastronsay.blogspot.com

Gee, what a bozo I am. I forgot the incoming Bishop Gilbert

    http://mundabor.wordpress.com/2011/06/05/the-abbot-of-pluscarden-appointed-bishop-of-aberdeen/

He seems to be well respected among the orthodox Catholics in Scotland.
