Sodomite wedding ring finger

I doubt this has any connection to the manner in which bishops wear rings.  While bishops do indeed wear their rings on the right ring finger, wearing a ring on the right hand is not generally regarded a mimicking a bishop.  Rather, many people (both women and men) wear all manner of rings on their right ring finger that are used just as ordinary jewelry.  For example, my uncle wears a ring on his right ring finger that is something of a family heirloom.  It has no special significance other than this.

Something else we should keep in mind, the whole idea of wedding rings for men is an innovation from the 20th Century.  Before that, only women wore wedding rings.  Men still wore rings, of course, just not wedding rings.

Further, it is not a universal tradition to wear a wedding ring on the left hand.  While it certainly is the custom in the English-speaking world, in many Eastern-European counties, wedding rings are worn on the right hand.

peter15and1 - it is really interesting that pre 20th century men did not wear wedding rings.  I did not know that.

And, I am simply commenting and viewing it from this angle.  Wearing a ring on the right hand ring finger is institutionalized by way of a sacramental rite in the catholic church for bishops. Bishops do opt to move it around on the right hand, but that is after and exceptional to the norm.  I mean we go around kissing the thing.  It must be important.  Right?

And, the fαɢɢօts are now having their own go at setting up an anti institution, and I was inquiring as to whether this would be or is the norm/rite.

Don't forget this old testament wisdom, " he that despiseth little things, shall fall by little things."

tkgs - in my opinion, there is virtually zero information about the symbolism/reasoning for the episcopal ring.  From memory, I believe it became a norm around the 7-8th century.  From the old testament, I remember their was mention and emphasis on "the king's ring".  I think it was a gentile king who had cordial relations with the israelites.  In the new testament, you have the prodigal son who returned home and his father placed a ring on his finger.  That is about it, I think.

This is suspicious.  This rt article shows a picture where sodomites wear their wedding ring on the right ring finger.

I wouldn't put too much weight on this. They probably just made a mistake! :detective:

I don't know where I got the idea, but I have always thought fαɢɢօts wore the rings on the right ring-finger.  I remember over 20 years ago, one of my goofy friends was wearing his on his right hand.  I razzed him about the implications and he then wore it on his left hand.  But I can't remember where I first learned that.
