Yes, that is what he meant. That the earth will be destroyed by God by fire, in order to purify it for His presence, because New Jerusalem will dwell on earth and He with us.

So, a short period of peace (40-45 days) after He strikes antichrist dead and the General Judgment takes place, and then he melts all the earth, dissolving every atom.

The end of the world will take place almost immediately after the death of Antichrist.  An interval of forty- forty-five days, however, will be granted, in order to give many a chance to do penance.  

It is probably during this interval that the accomplishment of the prophecy of St. Paul shall be realized in the conversion of the Jews who were followers of Antichrist. (All Israel shall be saved.)  

It is probably that our resurrection will take place on Easter Sunday; such is the opinion of Lactance and of St. Anselm.  If there will be an interval of forty-five days between the death of Antichrist and our resurrection, the death of Antichrist must take place during the days of debauchery which precede the holy time of Lent.

The renewal of heaven and earth will take place immediately after the General Judgment.  

We can reasonably admit the absolute possibility of annihilating the world, be we fail to discover any motives for which the divine Wisdom would do it.  Hence it follows that what will perish, what will pass away, what will disappear, is not the substance, but the figure, that is to say, the exterior phenomenon or the actual aspect of the world.
