WASHINGTON — In a long-sought victory for the gαy rights movement, the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the Constitution guarantees a nationwide right to same-sex marriage.

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote the majority opinion in the 5 to 4 decision. He was joined by the court’s four more liberal justices.

The decision, the culmination of decades of litigation and activism, came against the backdrop of fast-moving changes in public opinion, with polls indicating that most Americans now approve of same-sex marriage.

Justice Kennedy said gαy and lesbian couples have a fundamental right to marry.

“No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family,” he wrote. “In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were.”

“It would misunderstand these men and women to say they disrespect the idea of marriage,” Justice Kennedy said of the couples challenging state bans on same-sex marriage. “Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves. Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization’s oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.”

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr., in a dissent joined by Justice Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas, said the Constitution has nothing to say on the subject.

“If you are among the many Americans — of whatever sɛҳuąƖ orientation — who favor expanding same-sex marriage, by all means celebrate today’s decision,” Chief Justice Roberts wrote. “Celebrate the achievement of a desired goal. Celebrate the opportunity for a new expression of commitment to a partner. Celebrate the availability of new benefits. But do not celebrate the Constitution. It had nothing to do with it.”
"As the head of the Church, I cannot answer you otherwise: The Jєωs have not recognized Our Lord; therefore we cannot recognize the Jєωιѕн people." -Pope St. Pius X

"No Jєω adores God! Who say so?  The Son of God say so."

  • I own rental houses, and I can tell you that I'll never rent to a "married" sodomite couple - no matter what the Jєω-stained Supreme Court says.
"This principle is most certain: The non-Christian cannot in any way be Pope. The reason for this is that he cannot be head of what he is not a member. Now, he who is not a Christian is not a member of the Church, and a manifest heretic is not a Christian, as is clearly taught by St. Cyprian, St. Athanasius, St. Augustine, St. Jerome, and others. Therefore, the manifest heretic cannot be Pope." -- St. Robert Bellarmine

The one percent of perversion and corruption are our elected officials, judges, lawyers, doctors, church leaders who represent Hollywood and media instead if the American people.
Why wasn't it a referendum on the ballots?

  • Before you blame this on Reagan's appointee Kennedy...remember, the original appointe was Judge Borque who the left vilified and calumnated against so they could get a Kennedy type justice.

Most of the culpability actually falls on President Obama because it was him that appointed Kagan and Sotomayor, thereby creating a 5-4 liberal majority and making the decision set in stone years in advance.

This has nothing to do with the "judges" Peter and has everything to do with the loss of the Church, faith and God in every aspect of life in this country. God does not stay where He is not wanted and this whole country has been fighting tooth and nail to rid this country of God, most ferociously for at least the last 50 years.

    What's next? God only knows.

My prayer is for God to keep me and mine away of the world as much as possible, because now more than before, the world is more and more like the NO - something all the faithful need to avoid at all costs that we may hope to be among "the 10 Just" that Lot hoped to find - but couldn't.

We do not know exactly all what happened at Sodom and Gomorrah to prompt the wrath of God on those cities, but surly His wrath will come upon this country as it did then, and when it does, we all want to be as divorced from the abominations as possible.

As someone, a Prot I think actually, wrote before: “If God doesn't punish America, He'll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah".

    God, help us.

"But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men." - Acts 5:29

The Highest Principle in the Church: "We are first of all under obedience to God, and only then under obedience to man" - Fr. Hesse

  • Nobody should react to this with even the least iota of surprise. This was as foregone a conclusion as ever there was. As is the timing. Why does no one ever wonder why these little gift-wrapped presents to the Sodomites always seem to come just in time for the late-June sod "Pride" festivities?

And so what if it was? Look at Ireland.

You cannot put the Natural Law up for vote either by Senators, Congressmen, Judges, or the unwashed idiot masses. Either a State stands up for the Rights of Almighty God first and foremost, or else the very concept of "rights" loses all meaning. The seed for this outrage against Almighty God was planted in 1776, make no mistake about it.

If this doesn't open all eyes to the intrinsic error and evil of the entire American "experiment" then nothing will, and I, for one, will have no more patience for the willfully blind "true believers" in this democratic sham who refuse to see the thing for what it is.

    And speaking of which:

With all due respect, PtR, take your neocon scruples and your stupid Reagan idolatry and cram them up your arse sideways.

If you're still unable to remove your Americanist blinders and view the world like a Catholic, then I humbly ask you to get lost and go join up with a Fox News or Hannity fan forum or some such cesspit appropriate for the likes of you.

May God take His Vengeance on this wicked, hateful, godless, perverse Masonic nation.

    Right on!    :geezer:

Anyone that still reads books will know that this has been in the works long before VII.   :reading:

    Justice is perfect.

PtR, refresh on the heresy of Americanism, and the masonic founding of the US - doomed from the start, particularly when D.C. was created and consecrated to satan.

There is no remedy except conversion to the Faith. Pray for His Mercy on the innocent.

  • I don't have any Reagan idolatry. I do think he was the best President of my lifetime but by no means was he perfect. This country was founded upon Christian principles and for many years was a good and decent country. It was by no means perfect and I do agree that the weakened Church after VII is a main clulprit that has led up to what we have now.

I no longer believe the USA is a Christian nation and I refuse to sing any patriotic songs, especially God Bless America. You think God is going to bless America when the nation as a whole has turned their backs on Him? How long before the next terrorist attack? Wil a nuke fall on New York City or Los Angeles or Washington DC? The only thing left for any of us to do is stay close to the Sacraments, especially Confession and Communion and pray like your life depends on it, because it does.
