  • Sometimes I go to Google Books and type in some famous persons name and "anti-semite." A good percentage of these names end up having the anti-semite label attached to them.

So this thread thread will be dedicated to the random "anti-semites" I come across, with snippets from the books that talk about their transgressions. These people aren't necessarily good people, but I always find enemies of Jews interesting.

    Robert Lowell

I forget the title from which I got the snippet below, but it's about Jackie Kennedy:

    Carlos Lehder

    I forget the title:

    Henry Adams

    Dieudonné

I became aware of him a few years back. He gave an award to Robert Faurrison. He used to be one of the top comedians in France before he began criticizing Jews.

  • "The Jewish question is really the most serious of our problems"

    -Henry Adams

I've checked a book of letters of his and it is a legitimate quote.

The context is that he was stating something to the effect that London was ten times madder than New York.  I recall something about South African fortunes.

However there is a somewhat ironic tone in what he wrote in that letter, in context one wouldn't read the quote very gravely, but at the same time, one couldn't say he didn't mean it.

  • Speaking of Google, has anyone yet run afoul of this? I did, when I googled St. John Chrysostom's "no Jew adores God" quote:

  • The anti Catholicism surpasses anti semiticism.

There are many Jewish comedians whose career is mocking Jesus Christ and Catholicism and it is tolerated.

He must have meant it, considering the other quotes in Podhoretz's book.

Podhoretz (and his wife Midge Decter), btw, was the guy most responsible for getting Joe Sobran fired from National Review. Though part of me would like to thank him for that, because Sobran became a much more important writer after he started his newsletter.
