  • I am just back from a picket that never happened. Earlier today a woman sent out a message via her mobile/cell phone seeking twenty young people for a picket. She couldn't even get ten people so cancelled the picket. I am not annoyed as it highlights what I have always maintained that many have not the inclination or make excuses. You can't force people to help out. I am not amazed as even a few weeks ago nobody from the SSPX even bothered to come on the bus organised for a turf-cutter event.

The picket this evening was meant to be a pro-life one. I monitored the venue where the pro-abortion group were meeting.

  • Well time to promote 'Action' by Ousset. I have always maintained it is an elite, who do anything, the ideal few.

  • I suggested to the girl to have a campaign against the venue. Spread the word and leaflet the area that it hosted a pro-abortion fundraiser.

  • There are some problems that only prayer and fasting will solve.

The problems of Ireland are among those.

  • I do accept there are times the best action is to ignore the enemy. With people not involving themselves in Catholic Action, whilst there is cowardice, most of the time it is people, who are not inclined or make excuses.

A picket is not always the most effective action and you play events by ear but it is amazing the girl couldn't even get ten people even with several hours notice.

It's not even clash of personality but a case of people just not bothered.

I accept the framing of your comment and agree but it's an excuse just to sit at home and pray the rosary. There is a time when one needs to be out in public. What is effective is important. A person could spend five hours leafleting and it have no effect at all.

When a young woman can't ten people in a city, we have a problem.

  • There are plenty even in Ireland, who sit at home and say this is how it should be done but how many of these do things? Even the girl I mention has got fed up of these people. All talk and no action. People are well intentioned and I realise some people have children, they are ill, they can't picket etc etc.

We must be charitable and not assume people do nothing.

  • I deliberately stated it is not about personality clashes or people avoiding each other  as the girl who had tried to organise the picket is the very person, who admonished me at a picket for supporting Bishop Williamson.

The worst ever was a born again Christian heckling me and another Catholic outside an abortaury. Who would think a protestant (loyalist) Jim Dowson would defend us?

Did you go up to the heckler whom you know to be a born again Christian and ask what his views on abortion are?
