  • I have no idea how to upload photographs so will be necessary to visit the url to take a look at the photographs.Whilst I commend YD for their work, are such campaigns necessary in a Catholic Nation? I won't get in to the pointless discussion about politicians keeping their "pro-life promise". They will say anything to get elected. I'm not one for writing letters to politicians and see lobbying as a waste of time. I don't vote in elections and regard democracy as a sham.

I'm no socialist or supporter of the Labour party but not all socialists support abortion. I can outline to you why the Labour party are in decline and yes, they have a "Catholic wing".The founder of the Labour party, James Connolly was a socialist but attended daily Mass when he lived in New York. He also wrote in the Worker's Republic newspaper of having 'Ireland for the Irish'.

LARGEST PRO-LIFE AWARENESS CAMPAIGN EVER WILL REACH 2.1 MILLION PEOPLE JUN. 8, 2012
Pro-life groups launched the largest and most extensive information and awareness campaign ever seen in Ireland on the abortion issue.

More than 600 advertising sites will be used nationwide to carry a striking pro-life message that explains how "abortion tears lives apart" and why "there is always a better answer". The campaign, which will be rolled out over the entire summer, will reach in excess of 2.1 million people.

An accompanying ground campaign has signed up almost 2000 volunteers to reinforce the message and calls on Fine Gael to 'keep the pro-life promise' it made during Election 2011. The campaign will also have a strong online dimension using Facebook, You Tube and other online forums.

The Better Answer campaign was formally launched at Dáil Éireann on Kildare Street on Friday. Speaking at the launch, Niamh Uí Bhriain of the Life Institute said the outreach aimed to create new levels of public awareness and to raise up the pro-life majority. She explained that the theme of the campaign was inspired by one woman's experience with abortion and it's aftermath.

"Last year I had a very moving conversation with an Irish woman who underwent an abortion while living in Britain years before," said Ms Uí Bhriain of the Life Institute. "She told me that she felt her life was torn apart by the abortion, and that her baby's life was torn apart as well. I thought it was a powerful description of the reality of abortion, which is all too often glossed over in the debate on the issue."

Billboards, bus sides, metropanels and luas adverts will carry the powerful image of a ripped up photo and the accompanying message: 'Abortion tears her life apart: There is always a better answer.' A short online message will also be featured on transmission screens in busy train stations.

"The truth is that abortion kills babies and harms women, and we're using this campaign to put that reality back into the debate," said Ms Ui Bhriain. "

This campaign is co-sponsored by Youth Defence and the Life Institute and will also feature a major pro-life Rally and Roadshow.

Rebecca Roughneen of Youth Defence said that: "Mothers and babies deserve better than abortion and we need to raise up the pro-life majority to ensure that abortion is not foisted on the Irish people by the European Court or abortion advocates in the Labour Party."

"Labour continue to slide in the polls as their support for abortion grows more strident," but she said that Fine Gael needed to stop hiding behind 'expert committees' and European Court rulings and remember their obligation to the Irish people who would be asking them to keep the commitment they made not to legalise abortion in Election 2011," said Ms Roughneen.

"The Irish people know that we can do better for mothers and babies than the medieval solution of abortion," she said. "The UN has shown that Ireland, without abortion, is the safest place in the world for a mother to have a baby. Let's keep it that way."

  • Youth Defence are Catholic as demonstrated with their having a stall at the International Eucharistic Congress but wish to remain secular on the streets and in their literature. It works to a point but all forms of abortion can never be ignored or the fact that abortion offends God and is always murder. It's not good enough just to be "pro-life"  you need to be Catholic and our society must return to Traditional Catholicism with the true Mass.

  • Not necessarily Youth Defence but some in the 'pro-life movement' in Ireland are linking and promoting ɧoɱosɛҳųαƖ pro-life groups. Even this term 'pro-life movement' or women regarding themselves as 'pro-life' 'leaders' is silly. My jury is out on  Colleen Hammond doing these speaking tours on modesty etc etc. Is it her role?

Catholic,.... but wish to remain secular on the streets and in their literature? There really is no other way to deal with abortion (both to stop it and to deal with its aftermath) but through using all the spiritual weapons which only the Catholic Church has at Her disposal.

From what I have read you cannot be both a socialist and a Catholic. Somebody out there is sure to know where that teaching appears in the Church docuмents.

They are either plants or they are dangerously naive.
Re these "Catholic" sex-ed programs may I recommend Randy Engel's SEX EDUCATION The Final Plague :reading:

'Ireland for the Irish' is something positive to take from James Connolly and towards end of his life he began to support guilds. Guilds should be part of a new corporate/distributist state and even St Thomas Aquinas mentioned a Catholic Workers Republic.

Many in Ireland are nostalgic and want a Catholic monarchy or await this "great monarch". A Second Republic is more realistic.

Regarding the last point, it is a case of being naive. The Capitalist/Socialist system is falling apart. A new society has to be created by a new type of crusader.

Anger, while obviously an expected response, is not necessarily a successful outcome. Would that they are converted. That takes prayer. Has spiritual adoption of endangered babies been promoted? This entails saying one decade of the Rosary for "your" baby's spiritual and temporal benefit every day for nine months . The child may not be known to you in this life, but you will embrace when you both arrive at your eternal destination.

was thinking about this last night

    nαzι germany was closed society

    what if had free speech?

would anti-death camp activists have angered people by trying to show pics of reality of camp life?

people don't want to see atrocities in backyard

they don't want to feel responsible

maybe this is why pro-life signs anger people
    can't tell if ninja

    or cryptotrad

  • In America, liberal Jesuit college Fordham in NY coined the term "secular Catholic and even received government grant money.

Catholic is Catholic.   And many calling themselves 'Catholic" are far from it.

If you ever go to Ardara, County Donegal , go to Watchamcollum's Fish and chippie Van.  It is owned and operated by my good friend Rosaleen...

It seems there is a push for one world religion and one world government and bank  Isn't that evil??
May God bless you and keep you

  • Also, some of these people writing books and scheduling talks and conferences are about money and their personal gain.  Maybe they started out for good intentions but was ensnared by the devil.

  • Also, the one world religion that the liberals are pushing for is not the Catholic faith... ( I just want to make that clear)

On the point of anger there was a pro-life rally held in Belfast earlier today. About a 100 or so pro-abortion supporters countered it. We must pray for their conversion. They were angry and violent. The pictures shows a pro-abortion protester being arrested.
