When I see someone like that, my first thought is that they were in an accident or had a disease that left them disfigured. The plastic surgeons did as best they could!

I think the irony of modern beauty standards (plastic surgery, daily excessive makeup, super long nails, crazy high heels) is that they actually make those who take part in them extremely unattractive. At least, this has been my personal experience. It’s almost as if those who chase the looks of youth end up with a worse appearance than before.

I have wondered if some of it is done to try and get away from European (and, one could even say, East Asian as well) standards of beauty.

I think we can all relate to the fact that we always notice imperfections in our appearance much more than others do. It seems that the excessive use of plastic surgery, make up, etc. is due to an obsession with finding imperfections and frankly analyzing one's face too much, to the point that women begin to see ugliness or defects where there aren't any, and thus use too much of the "remedies", if you will, to their apparent ugliness.
