DAILYKENN.com -- (video script) Rioting broke out in Philadelphia after an adult male was fatally shot by police.

Here are things you need to know.
First, a mob gathered at Malcolm X park to protest a police shooting.
Second, the mob then descended on a police station where cops positioned themselves behind barricades.
Third, rioters then reportedly attacked police by ramming into the cops with vehicles. The result? Twelve police officers were hospitalized. One 56-year-old female police sergeant suffered a broken leg after she was hit by a black pickup truck.
Reports also said that mobs hurled bricks
Fourth, rioters also rampaged through the streets of Philadelphia. According to inquirer.com, "police struggled to respond to vandalism and looting along the commercial corridor of 52nd Street, an area that was the scene of clashes between police and protestors earlier this summer."
    So what prompted the rioting?

The fifth thing you need to know is that reports say the deceased, identified as 27-year-old Walter Wallace, Jr., lunged at police with a knife. The cops responded by shooting Wallace multiple times.
Sixth, you need to know the mother of the now-dead person tried to stop him from approaching police. But Wallace brushed past his mother.
Seventh, Walter Wallace, Sr., said his son was shot ten times and that he had mental health issues. Police, however, didn't say how many times he was shot, pending an investigation, we suppose.
Eighth, the mother of the deceased wondered aloud, “Why didn’t they use a taser?” according to the Inquirer. The paper noted “His mother was trying to diffuse the situation.”
    ***************3*****************
Ninth, the newspaper's headlines referred to the riots as "heated...protests." That prompts the question, it that irresponsible reporting? Should the media lend dignity to rioters by downgrading their violence to mere protests? What do you think?
Tenth, it all began when police responded to a call of a man with a knife.
    Here's how the story unfolds:
"Wallace had a knife and was standing on the porch of his home," according to a witness reported by inquirer.com. Police drew their guns.
"Wallace’s mother chased after him as he walked down the steps of his porch, still holding the knife, according to [the witness]. His mother tried to shield Wallace and tell police he was her son," the report said.
Witnesses say at least a dozen shots were fired by police.

Now, I've got to ask: Was this justified? Could the officers not controlled the individual with mace, tasers, or dogs? Why not a warning shot, someone asked. Or a shot in the leg rather than take the individual's life?
Is it conceivable possible that police departments are forced to hire unqualified individuals to avoid accusations of discrimination? I'm not drawing a conclusion here, just asking a question.
Here's how inquirer.com recorded the aftermath:

    Quote
But dozens of protesters then gathered at Malcolm X Park at 51st and Pine Streets, chanting “Black Lives Matter." They marched to the police station at 55th and Pine Streets as they chanted, “Say his name: Walter Wallace.”

For hours, protesters confronted officers who stood in a line with riot shields behind metal barricades at the station. People in the crowd could be seen throwing objects at the officers. A group also marched into University City, at least one TV news vehicle was vandalized, and police reported that windows had been broken on Chestnut Street.
