Of course the standard response from both Left and Right is to either throw money at the problem or for higher education standards, just as the Left and Right deal with teenage sɛҳuąƖ behavior with either telling them there is no 'absolute moral value' or to hand out condoms to junior high girls. First of all men assume that education is simply for the recitation of intellectual values. However what must be considered is that children are not meant to be walking encyclopedias on knowledge but children are to be trained to be model citizens of character. The greatest fault in public education is not the falling test scores but the fact that public education shows no regard for religious instruction. The problem with today's youth is not the 'lack of intellectual knowledge,' something that a vast majority of our youth will not need later in life, but of a horrible moral character that grows every year. Something that needs to be emphasized is whether a child becomes an unskilled laborer or a scientist makes no difference if a child does not innoculate the values that are in the greatest book of history, the Bible. It is in here that the youth should be told of the importance of morality and the innoculation of character. It was truly a sad state of affairs that in public schools I had no teachings of the Bible and Ten Commandments and no prayer. As for the Baltimore Catechism I had no knowledge of such a book until I became a Traditional Catholic. The decaying morality of humanity as a whole has to do with a lukewarm response of the education of our youth by parents and teachers.
