They're thin because they refularly consume raw fish and likely have tape worms in their bodies.
Yikes you reckon? Ugh I used to eat sushi on my work lunch break years ago! I went off it when I was pregnant. I think the Japanese eat less than Europeans and Americans. Though I think we in uk and Europe are thinner on average than you Americans!!

Their raw fish preparation methods are full of sanitary protocols.  Including the use of the turnip root "wasabe", which also eliminates micro creatures.
