It is as if you accept certain assertions as infallibly correct and then look at all evidence through this faulty prism.
Instead of going where the evidence leads us, the conspiracists simply pick an explanation that comports with their fixed view of the world and either deny any opposing evidence exists or else selectively apply extremely high standards of credibility to ONLY opposing evidence while accepting all sorts of specious nonsense as true without question.
