Non Possumus: Cultural Marxism

  • There's a good article on the Non Possumus blog today, called, "Cultural Marxism." It's written by a traditional Catholic named Laura Raventos, but in the picture of her in the article, it seems that she's trying to look more like a fashion model, rather than someone who is a trad writing a serious POV.

Anyway, a quote from the article refers to cultural Marxism as...."launching of the Masonic and liberal Jєωιѕн ideology on society." True enough.

There's also a quote from Pope St. Pius X, which I'd not ever heard of before, but it makes a lot of sense:

"In vain you will build churches, preach missions and build schools; all your works, all your efforts will be destroyed if you cannot manage at the same time the offensive and defensive weapon of a Catholic press, loyal and sincere."

Currently, there is no Catholic press that is loyal and sincere to Catholic tradition. Some might think that The Remnant would fit the bill, but IMO it does not. The SSPX used to have a sincere and loyal press, but no more.

It just happens that she evidently is a beautiful young woman. Nothing wrong with that!. She is modest and very pretty which is kind of difficult to disguise. Would it be more credible to you if she appeared to be an old and ugly woman?

The article is very good, also. Thank you for the link.
If anyone says that true and natural water is not necessary for baptism and thus twists into some metaphor the words of our Lord Jesus Christ" Unless a man be born again of water and the Holy Spirit" (Jn 3:5) let him be anathema.

She looks like a fashion model. It's quite ridiculous for you to think that I might think her more credible if she were old and ugly. That's an extreme thing to say.

And...just because she is trying (IMO) to look like a model, this doesn't make her article less credible. It's a good article. Why don't you comment on the other things I had to say about the article, such as the quote from Pope St. Pius X?

  • Why would you bring up her looks to begin with in the very first paragraph?

The article is about Cultural Marxism. The criticism about her looks is quite pointless.

It isn't pointless. We're traditional Catholics.

And? I find absolutely no fault in this young lady appearance but apparently for some reason you are triggered by it, so much you felt the need to actually  comment on it in the very first opening paragraph, discrediting her article.

I'll say it again: she looks like she's trying to look like a fashion model. If my saying that bothers you, okay. I'm not going to change my mind. You're entitled to your opinion.

It doesn't bother me at all. It seems it bothered you. I am able to appreciate youth and beauty in another woman without feeling threatened by it.

Now I have better things to do so have a nice day!

So what if it bothers me. It obviously bothered you that it bothered me. So we can't judge a woman's appearance anymore? Really?

And anyway, judging her appearance wasn't the only thing I said about the article. But that's all that you were interested in. It's good that you have better things to do. I hope that's true.

  • It is just a picture of her. Her clothes are not immodest, all we really see is her hair and face. I do not see anything that would lead me to think anything immodest about her. In the picture, she does appear to be attractive. So what? Being attractive is not a sin, for if it was, I'd be guilty, being as I am a very handsome man. LOL!
